Re: Death Star units
OT: I have nothing against Death Star Units. They may seem unbeatable at times, but all of them have their weak points too (poor maneuverability, long flanks, astronomical price etc etc) that a Wedge-like player can exploit.
It's also pretty realistic when you think about it. Lots of historical armies massed all their biggest, 'ardest chappies into huge masses and sent them headlong into their enemies, often with great effect. However many of these historical 'Deathstars' came a cropper too. <Cough> Agincourt <Cough>

Re: Death Star units
The British had some slight advantages at Agincourt that aren't really represented in WFB. For starters, there are no rules for walking through knee deep mud whilst wearing plate armour, nor are there rules for finally reaching the enemy and being too tired to lift your sword.
At the same time, there are no existing records of the French Knights at Agincourt being outflanked by a dragon before being roasted alive in their armour.
Still, the point remains that nothing is unbeatable, you just need to figure out the weak point and exploit it.

Wow! A Brit that doesn't believe the myth of English Archers winning the day.
BTW Who eventually won the 100 years war?

Re: Death Star units
Well, I believe it was the English Archers who casually walked up to the French Knights who were stuck, knee deep in corpses and mud and slit their throats. Given that the English army at Agincourt was something like 80% archers, it would be hard for them not to have played a part in the victory.Mike the Pike wrote:Wow! As for the result of the 100 years war, I dont see the French speaking English these days, do you? Agincourt was a suprising victory, but we lost the war when our allies switched sides.

You know what I mean Prim. The myth of the cream of the French Nobility being cut down by a rain of English Arrows etc etc.
Wasn't there an hallucinating Teenage Girl involved as well? And a Dolphin?

Man, maybe you Kiwi guys really do spend too much time buzzed. Apparently your history texts need some rewrites or rereads.Mike the Pike wrote:You know what I mean Prim. The myth of the cream of the French Nobility being cut down by a rain of English Arrows etc etc.![]()
