Doh!
The are the one army I am really scarred to face... not sure why but the combo of Prime and Dwarves sounds very hard to deal with...

So standing list so far:
Prim: Dwarfs
Baddie: Demons
Jus: Vampire Counts
T-o-D: Goblins and maybe orcs
Voss: Waiting for the rest to chime in
I know it is way too early for me to pick but I'll list the five I have my eyes on
Wood Evles: +have some already -bottom rung army and I want these models beautifully painted
Dark Elves: +easy to adapt to as similar to high elves -not too fond of the minis
Empire: +lots of variety -already play IG in 40k, just another bunch of weak humans
Lizardmen: +I own some already -not too fond of them right now
Beastmen: +interesting new units -muscle bound is only cool on arnie
Prim: Dwarfs
Baddie: Demons
Jus: Vampire Counts

Re: building from scratch (warhammer army escalation)
From my very limited knowledge about the last ed and the new ed I think the new ed will be much more fun. So I hope some of the Nagoya crew that has not piped up will do so that said there are plenty of people to play so it is their loss if they do not chime in.

Re: building from scratch (warhammer army escalation)
This is primarily for getting new players into the game, rather than for us old hands to play. If it winds up being all the regulars and Voss's rookies not being interested, then we wont be playing in Tajimi, since he still has to do something Outrider related I'm guessing.
Plus Fantasy was fun in EVERY edition. Its a good game. I just prefer my games to have more Space Marines in them usually.

Well no matter what I would like you guys to come to Tajimi sometimes and bring these armies. Maybe seeing them grow would get some to join in. We shall see. And old hats are more than welcome to join in. The more the merrier I say.

Re: building from scratch (warhammer army escalation)
Well I finally had a chance to clean my old bedroom. It's been a storage room for 6 years and some parts of the room, no one but the skaven have gone there in all that time (even found a few of them who were betrayed and killed, their corpses littering the floor
). Or so I thought. Image my surprise when I pulled out all my old models and found half an army of Empire as well as some very old beastmen (how many of you remember the one with the unicorn head and the crab claw?).
It had completely escaped my mind that I had once upon a time began mobilizing an army of the Empire at the dawn of 6th edition. And even further back, I had a small army of beastmen in 5th. It also surprised me how many army books I have from 4th and 5th (most of them) and 2nd edition codexes (again most of them).
So adding to my list of played armies is beastmen and Empire. Looks like my list of options is getting smaller and smaller.
My remaining choices are:
Tomb Kings
Wood Elves
Brettonia
Dark Elves
Ogre Kingdoms
Skaven
If we do get some players in Tajimi, I'm expecting them to be high elves and skaven, so I'll cross that off of my list. I'm going to take a shot in the dark and guess that nobody will pick Dark Elves and pick up the army book here if I can. If somebody does take Dark Elves, then I'll take wood elves as I have that army book too already.
