An interesting article about the next edition
Blatantly stolen from BoLS, but nevertheless an interesting read. I am not sure that this new edition will quite change the face of gaming as much as the author thinks, but you never know.

Re: An interesting article about the next edition
I can't see there being any huge changes, all of the rumours seem to streamline play and make things simpler. That should help people get into the game, but it may put off some of those who consider WFB to be 40k's mature counterpart.
As with every system, the biggest changes will come with the army books. Depending on how balanced they are against each other will affect the popularity of the game. Just look at Daemons in 7th, they made a lot of people unhappy.

Re: An interesting article about the next edition
The article is interesting, but pretty US centric. That BOLs writer seems to be asserting that WFB lives or dies in America. Well, it's had a robust following in Europe for long enough, and that isn't going to change as I see it. I don't have the figures, but isn't WFB more popular in Europe than 40k? It'll be fine even if the new rules don't entice new gamers - but I am sure they will.
As to the changes, there's too much speculation going on at the moment I reckon, but we won't know what's what until we have it in our greasy hands. But - I'm quite hopeful about the rumoured alterations, I think they're largely positives from what I've experienced in 7th ed..some of the rules are clunky as they stand, it seems to me will benefit from streamlining. More people will give it a shot.
I don't think the bell is tolling or the sky falling . Rather, I expect a bit of a renaissance of WFB. I can't wait.

"What you talking about Willis?" - Gary Coleman R.I.P.
I have been calling you out for ages Senor Admiral. If you bring a decent sized army of Daemons, Lizzies or whatever I will play you. You can even bring a Bloodthirster if you like. I'll play you at 2000-2500pts anytime.
The other day I had to give you a rain check because Ash and Stu beat you to the punch and booked my services first.

Back on topic...
The one thing I hope the changes brings about is seeing more models on the table.
Prim commented the other day that apart from the horde armies, a WFB army doesn't really fill up the board like it should. I have come to agree. A regiment shouldn't be 5-10 guys. Blocks of 20+, even for more Elite armies should be possible and playable.
The rumoured Character caps and minimum core unit percentages might well help in that area.

I'm sure it is safe to bet that it will involve, $more$ models.Mike the Pike wrote:Back on topic...

And don't they do points percentages anymore? I have not really looked at FB since, like 5th ed. They used to have like 50% Heros, 25% core, etc.etc. 40K did too for that matter.
