A short tournament report from Sweden. The most popular 40k tournament is a four man team tournament. The fantasy tournament is not as popular but I decided to go for fantasy to show of my new Tomb kings. The 40k tournament had exactly 50 teams three from our club and 18 fantasy teams where two came from our club.

It was ETC regulations that mainly ban gun lines (max 45 ranged infantry) and too heavy magic (max 2 generated magic dice). We had dark elves, Vampire counts, skaven and tomb kings. The pairing is a little different, you secretly put your four teams down and the opponent does the same. Each team captain could then switch two of his own armies.

Five matches one on Friday, three on Saturday and one on Sunday. As expected we were all beginners in fantasy we played in the bottom part but we ended up in place 14 out 18 I think that is a good place on the first fantasy tournament. However I snagged a second place in the best painted, I think it was mainly due to the fact that my army was completely new and no one had seen it before.

What did I think of the tournament: The missions where pitched battle where it was possible to get extra points from small different mission (assassin: kill characters, attack: get into opponent deploy, a.s.o.) I think that if the blood and glory mission balance the one big unit and then some cheap flyers armies. Unfortunate this mission was not present. The 40k tournament has a lot of players showing up only for this tournament, the fantasy is the opposite so there are a lot of good players. But hey they are better players then me so I should loose.

I will try to post some picture the evening.

Sounds like you had a good time.
Congratulations on the painting result. It must be nice to have so many gamers come to an event (50 teams and 18 teams makes for 272 players, wow).
Out of interest, what happens if there is an odd number of teams? e.g. if one team gets delayed or cant make it to the event.

Looks like fun. Hopefully one day Nagoya Hammer gets this big.

I think M_i_J meant that I was jealous about the scale of the event. :D
And I am.

As for the fact that it's a serious tournament, you're right, that's not my type of thing at all. :D
