An alternative to 9th Edition

Well, if you did get bummered by any of the changes in anticipated 9th Ed., I guess you could always turn to digital option.

It will be interesting to see if this helps energize Warhammer's lagging brand the way Dawn of War really drew new fans to 40k.

Total War games are generally bloody good. In fact, the only thing I didn't like so much about em was the historical setting. So, throw in some dragons and magic and suchlike...aye, I'll be keeping a close eye on this.

Also - hey! Lookit! A Tzeentchian focus for a change instead of the usual Khorne or nurgle. Appropriate for a strategy game, mind you :)

TW series is usually some indicator of quality. Shame I don't have anything that'll be able to run it.

I may pick it up, but I'll wait until they release all the bug fixes and patches, so no rush for me.
I love TW: Medieval 2, but hated Empire and to a lesser extent, Napoleon. I haven't tried the newer Shogun or Rome games though.

Warhammer + Total War = Epic Win

Will they be able to pull it off though?

Medieval is probably my favourite ever wargame, but Shogun II -- despite the promise -- I found pretty boring. Every time I laid siege to a castle and saw that little ninja animation ...I kept thinking; I'd much rather be playing Tenchu than this! The turn based resource management element was starting to overload the game.

Looking forward to the release.
