I feel so bad for annihilating Jus' Vamps that I am starting this thread in their memory. R.I.P.
I'll kick things of with a coupla Top tips:
1) If you Twilight wannabe Vamp players haven't checked it out already, head on over to 'Carpe Noctem' the premiere Vampire Counts forum on the web.
http://www.vampirecounts.net/portal.php
2) Make a crib sheet for your army!
Make note of things you are likely to forget and then mentally and/or physically check them off each turn until it becomes second nature. There's no use having the helm of Command if you forget to use it!
Actually, the above two go for any army, just replace 'Carpe Noctem' with the WFB army forum of your choice.
Anyhows, that's my two yen worth.
Cheers
Mike

My advice for using VCs is to make use of Ethereal units. Unless the enemy has a character present in a unit, most units are unable to hit them. You have to attack smaller units with them though as they suffer from not having ranks/numbers to win combat outright.
Another piece of advice I would offer is to grab a corpse cart or a necromancer and have it buffing up units. Vampires win by grinding their opponents down over several turns whilst keeping their units at full strength. Spam Raise Dead and Nehek to raise zombie units near to an enemy unit's flank or rear and then use Vanhel's Dance to make them charge.
My final piece of advice is not to play Pikey in a friendly game. Assume the worst and bring as much big, vile, nasty stuff as you can lay your hands on.
Way to help the rookie out Pikey.

no, that was just beginners luck. If Stu had made his charge with his dragon princes and swordmasters, things would have turned out different.
In terms of the few games I had, I've come to realise how fickle magic is now. What with rolling a natural 1 and a 2 now failing magic altogether, and opponents potentially dispelling EVERYTHING. I had a lvl 4 Wizard vs an army with no magic users period, and it was still quite abysmal (not having enough power dice, or oppenent having too many dispel dice),Trying to maintain the your rank and file along with trying to casting van hels as well, while doable is extremely difficult to pull off unless you go super magic heavy, forgoing all armor items etc, to add dice to your pool. still early day yet, still learning. hmmm, mannfred von carstein....interesting.
who wants to play WFB?

*sigh* I'd play if I had a standing army. My nurgle worshiping WoC seem to have rotted away into nothing
