Mantic's new "original" idea

Mantic games have just posted some photos in their blog for "Khaos Dwarfs."
Details are here.
I can understand them releasing elves, dwarves and undead as they are generic fantasy, but this new lot seem to indicate that they are happy to be GW's cheaper clone rather than having some new ideas of their own. Way to differentiate yourselves from the competition guys!
Hopefully these models will be better than their dwarf range, and they will certainly be cheaper than FW's (or is that WF's) upcoming chaos dwarves, but I cant help but be disappointed by their staggering lack of creativity.

I dunno. I think it's highly likely that they realize that only a relatively small proportion of their sales are to people who actually play the Mantic wargame. If they can succeed being the "mass plastics" version of Avatars of War, I say more power to 'em - and you have to admit that making figures for a popular-but-presently-unsupported WHFB army is probably a solid bet.

Along those lines, anyone remember Warzone? A couple buddies of mine bought a copy back in the day. They played it once, out of curiousity and then added the miniatures to their IG collection, as was their only intention. Makes sense to me too to tap the "popular-but-presently-unsupported" crowd.

From a business point of view, yes, I totally get it. From the point of view of a gamer, I just find it sad that they dont rate their own game enough to try and be more original.

The chance of knocking WHFB off the top slot for fantasy wargaming at that scale and size is pretty slim.

And they have the superb Bob Naismith doing there evil litle stunties for them. That makes them wintastic regardless.

For those who are unaware of the importance off Bob Naismith, may I bring this picture to your attention;

Mantic are currently expanding their ranges and have just announced the Drakon mount for their Elf army.
Details and pictures can be found here.
Personally I think it looks like the warped offspring of a chicken and a dragon that got dropped on it's head too many times whilst still a hatchling, but thats just me. :D

animal cruelty, they have NO ARMS. hmm Like with most mantic stuff, not all that impressed. Probably would have like it better if they had arms. Sorry mantic.

Yeah, that's... kinda dumb-looking. Sorry, Mantic.

Their orc boar riders look all right, though.
