8th Edition Warhammer is to fantasy what 5th Edition 40k is to 40k.
Simplifying a lot of the confusing stuff and trying to make the game more fun.
I hope anyway.
According to the warseer rumours there are a lot of changes going on.

Copied and Pasted straight from Bell of Lost Souls
Ahh, Games Workshop's web team and their little "mistakes"... Google has caught their latest announcement of the upcoming Fantasy Boxed set due in September: Island of Blood (which was quickly pulled down)
Incoming: Island of Blood
Enter, if you dare, the Warhammer world; it is a strange and dangerous realm, riven with battle, bloodshed and slaughter, twisted beyond sanity by the warping power of Chaos.
The Island of Blood is the new boxed game for Warhammer and is released this September. Packed full of stunning plastic Citadel miniatures and containing all the rules, dice and templates you'll need to play, it's the essential purchase for fans of the Warhammer hobby. Meanwhile, if you like the Battle for Skull Pass boxed game (and who wouldn't with all those Goblins and Dwarfs Dwarfs) then it only seems fair to point out that once the last few remaining copies are they're gone, and they're never coming back! Pick one up while they last.
In August we'll be featuring more information about The Island of Blood here on the website and the full details will be released in September's White Dwarf, so keep your eyes peeled.

Hopefully, this will make Warhammer FB fun again. I`ve all but stopped playing it in the last year. My two armies are Ogre Kingdoms (so incredibly weak compared to other armies that it`s a miracle to pull out a tie) and Daemons (so incredibly mighty compared to other armies that it`s a miracle anyone will agree to a game with me). Oh, and don`t judge me on the Daemons - I had them since the old Storm of Chaos!
Must finish painting all Hordes before this comes out!

Incidentally, has anyone ordered 8th yet? Or are people waiting to see?
I'm wondering if I ought to just wait and pick up the new starter which will hopefully have the mini rulebook. September seems a long way off though.
I don't really have an interest in skaven, but may keep the high elves if I pick it up.
First reports from people who have seen the book say its gorgeous. But at 500 plus pages it isn't going to be very portable.

I ordered the gamers set already. It'll be stateside when I get there so I have something to read while my mother is in surgery. I am totally psyched! And every battle report I have read so far involving 8th has been great fun.

Paid my stupidity tax and ordered 8th yesterday, the standard book. Couldn't wait for the starter. Maelstrom is probably one of the best deals for us in Japan, it isn't cheap though.
