me in japan's Nurgle stuff (Dave in Tsu)

Post by me_in_japan » Sun May 16, 2010 11:22 am

As with my Eldar, I'll just keep posting and re-editing the post as I paint more stuff. These pics are all pretty low resolution. If anyone really wants to see better, bigger pics, or pics of specific squad members, just PM me and I'll happily mail you as many as you want :)

Terminator Lord. The boss

Image
The possessed (largely converted by use of green stuff. Some bitz used too.)

Image
The chosen

Image
Drednaught. The bell is from the old metal skaven screaming bell.

Death Guard

Image
Lesser Daemons. The models are Blights from Heresy Miniatures (an ace company that I thoroughly recommend)

The first rhino is a scratch build, the other 2 are standard kits.

Blight Drone

Image
Scratch built from plasticard and a few bitz.

Image
havoc squad. Horrible things happened to these guys when I spray varnished them, not least of which was the removal of any and all highlights (previously applied by airbrush...) Yuck.

Worthy winners of the Golden week bash. The blight drone and possessed are especially good.
It makes it so hard for us average schmoes :(

Constructive criticism wise, the only things I am not so enthusiastic about are the base of your Nurgle Lord, under the dead 1K Son. There's just something about it, and the scratch built rhino. It just seems too simple. Nurgle vehicles are meant to be busy. More maggots and/or pustules would do the trick.

Anyways, as I said above, awesome stuff.

both fair points, actually. The lord was made and painted long before i ever intended to do a nurgle army, which is why he's not on the same type of base. I spose I could repaint it and maybe even scuplt a few more worms on, but, meh, i figure him as finished. The rhino was my first ever scratch build, so i was aiming for "not terrible", rather than a full on pustulant thing of beauty. Still, point taken. I do tend to skimp on detail in my conversions. I shall endeavour to make my plague tower as gribbly as possible.

Why not post a link to the place you got you daemons from in the links section?
The army was very very cool in the flesh (as it were).

This is a very mean slimy army I hope I can play them some time soon... love the base work and the work you did on the weathering...

I am gunning for you on the paint work next Nag-hammer... Next time I may not be a Grot in the Cogs but if I am I will still give you hell if I can...

Great work Dave. I wish I had the time and creative patience to paint like that.
It just shows batch painting is not always the way to go when painting an army.
I'm at a point now where I have got two or three completed armies and can start to enjoy painting one model at a time.

You were the winner on the Sunday? Well done.

Always looking at these models makes me wonder what you'll come up with next that can top this.

All looks good mate but the scratchbuilt rhino, while well painted, doesn't fit with the rest of the army. The green looks a bit too clean compared to the other one.

you know I think it may just be the lighting in the photograph... I thought it looked fine at the event...

nah, mus is right - the first rhino is painted with GW paints, whereas the rest of the vehicles were all done with Tamiya stuff. The first one was really just an exercise in scratch building. The look of teh army was developed later. the same applies to the termi lord - he doesnt really fit the rest of em either. he gets away with it cos hes a caharacter and so can be a bit diff, but the poor ol rhino just sticks out :(
