i say sir, nice dapples! A fine, fiesty filly, I'm sure, fnar fnar

sorry :D

Really nice work on the horses there. A bit of natural coloration makes a world of difference, compared with just plain old grey/tan all over.

As for the photo booth - yeah, theyre dead good. I'd recommend printing out a nice swooshy-yet-neutral background (similar to what our marine has up there), putting the minis on a small plinth/block of wood painted black, and putting the background behind them. This cuts down on post processing photoshop type stuff immensly, and looks v professional.

What do you think about a forest background like the official Warhammer product photos have? I might try finding something along those lines and printing it out.

Beautiful work Ten. I really enjoyed painting my wood elf army, especially the horses.
Reminds me of when I used to spend time on the models instead of dipping them into vats of army painter.
Now my armies are done for each system I play I hope to go back to painting slowly. Heinrich Kemler is next on the bench. That's the Lichemaster not a Prussian general.
Forget about yesterday, don't worry about tomorrow because all that matters is today.

They are indeed good photos of great models.

Very nice indeed sir. The bases look splendid and really help make the models look awesome. Good work. :D

*MiJ does a little one-man standing ovation*

Wooo! Somebody else who takes basing seriously! Huzzah! Lovely bases, very nice colour scheme, and top notch photography. I really like the colour scheme. It's neutral but not bland, an has a real elven feel to it. Where did you get the basing material from, out of interest?

re: forest background, that's an interesting question. The accepted standard for mini photography is a plain or slightly mottled background, but there's no reason a photographic one (like a forest) wouldn't work. Given the somewhat cartoony feeling of most GW minis, maybe a CG or drawn background would suit the feeling more. You could check deviantart for words like forest, mood, bosky, and stuff like that, and see if you find a non-intrusive, atmospheric picture you could use.

Thanks for the comments.

@MIJ: I was a little worried about the colour scheme lacking impact, because I keep looking at the reference photos in the codex and liking GW's version better. But I think it's working out.

The bases are from http://www.back2base-ix.com/ in Australia. They also sell magnetic movement trays, so you can get everything all together. The more elaborate bases with tree stumps are hard to position models on, though. I might just go for their "Dirt" series next time. It definitely saves time gluing on sand and rocks, though.

Aah, ok. Ta :) I've used them for magnet purchases in the past. Decent company - good prices and free shipping ( at least on the magnets it was). I'm kinda hunting for round, lipped bases for my trollbloods. Something treeish and rocky, prhaps...
