The Desolator looks a LOT like the primary big bad of the Mass Effect series of games:

OK, I had a bit of a think over the past week or so, having finished one of my goals, and decided to refinance, as it were. I've got three projects going (10mm Middle-Earth, 6mm Napoleonics, and 6mm Ancients), and rather than coming at it piecemeal and having three unfinished projects I can't actually use to play any games, I'm going to focus a bit.

So, since it's the closest to being done, I'm going to work on the armies of Middle-Earth first, get two complete forces painted up, then decide whether to work on Ancients (which I haven't started, but when finished I'll have two armies for and can run games), or Napoleonics (which I have made good progress on, but will need an opponent for). But I'll cross that bridge when I come to it.

Here's my goal, then, and current progress:

Good Army:
6/6 bases of Human Spearmen
0/4 bases of Human Archers
0/6 bases of Human Horsemen That Could Pass for Elven Horsemen Since It's Only 10mm
6/8 bases of Elven Spearmen
6/8 bases of Elven Archers
3/8 bases of Dwarves
2/3 Characters

Evil Army:
18/24 bases of Goblins
9/9 bases of Warg Riders
9/9 bases of Wargs
3/6 bases of Trolls
1/4 Characters

The goals are a bit modified from the start of the year, because I have ruleset ADD and want to paint up armies for a couple slightly-different ways to form units. Still, it's fair progress done and I have 3 bases of Goblins, 2 of Elven Archers, and 2 Goblin Characters on the workbench even now.

Giving myself a post-Epicstravaganza gift-to-myself mini goal of "get a demo PHR force for Dropzone painted up by the end of the month," which means:

3 Neptune dropships
2 Ares anti-tank walkers
2 Phobos AA walkers
2 Juno APCs
4 bases of Immortals

And here's the first batch, the Ares walkers with their dropship.

And for scale, with some Scourge infantry (the walkers are aboot 30mm tall)


So my status on this mini-goal:

That's that mini-goal done, so I can run demos, and now I'll go back to the 10mm Middle-Earth project, and hopefully get that finished up by the time the final Hobbit movie comes out!

I have to say, too, that I'm really glad I did the minis painted signature thing. I had some slow spots, so it's nice to be able to see exactly how productive I've been this year!

I think next year's resolution will have to center around actually playing more, heh.

Well, then, to heck with Middle-Earth! I'm instead going to get 1000 points of PHR painted up for DzC by the end of November, and do, I dunno, something, to round out the year in December. Even if I haven't hit my goals as such, I think it's been an awfully productive year, painting-wise.

So, by month end, for the PHR (all this stuff is assembled and magnetized and sitting on my hobby table waiting for priming):

2 medium walkers and their dropship
2 heavy / command walkers and their dropship
2 more stands of infantry and their dropship

While I'm at it, I'll also round out my Scourge forces, which I think I painted up a bit infantry-heavy:

3 hovertanks and their dropship
1 light dropship for a small infantry squad - I have the infantry painted up already

Next year it seems I've promised to look into Bolt Action, so expect next year's resolutions to be Bolt Action, finishing up my 10mm Middle-Earth stuff, and 6mm Napoleonics.
