Ash's new collection: Mithril LOTR MERP minis.
Ash's new collection: Mithril LOTR MERP minis.
Well, the paints went away in February. The baby arrived last month, one month early! But what has the squire of the borderlands been up to with his time? Do we know? Do we care? Well I'll let you in on the tale as it tells.
Mithril OOP mini collecting. Online bidding and hording. Finding as many minis to do with Middle Earth Roleplay. Photographing them and then boxing them away for a rainy day. Sad? No fear. It's been an adventure.
It was late one evening in winter 2011 when I visited MIJ's hobby room and was shown the models he bought but feared it would be a waste to paint them. Too special or precious so it goes. I now completely understand this concept. At the time I was knee deep in Prussians and painting to a deadline.
Now with this new mini collection I am enjoying collecting for collecting sake.
I may run an rpg adventure set at Bree or Weathertop some day and I have a plan to do a Diorama of The Prancing Pony at Bree next winter. For all Tolkien fans I hope you enjoy this thread. There will be a quiz each day to see if you can guess who the mini is. Remember it's pre New Line Cinema so they are all based on the classic book.
Here's my first few goodies my precious;
The original core MERP book.
Sourcebook
The inspiration for the collection. A campaign set in The Shire perhaps.
A bit of nostalgia that never was. ADandD Players handbook from the 70's
Some NPCs for the Prancing Pony.
The 9. Or indeed 8 as one is missing and I need to track him down.
The dead of Dunharrow
Vignettes
There will be more later but for now.
Who is this? Easy one first.

that's easy. Ee's an old bloke wiv a beardWho is this?
I must say, I can totally empathise with your hordeing impulse. I get it bad when I want to paint/do geek stuff, but dont have the time. It's like I have to buy geek stuff to keep the craving down. Heh, I guess there's a reason they call it plastic crack
Anyway, I look forward with interest to further developments in middle earth.

Count me in for anything LOTR. The old bloke can only be Saruman the White.
Re: Ash's new collection: Mithril LOTR MERP minis.
Maybe he's Radagast the Brown.

Nope, less obscure a character.

No. Not the lady Arwen. The clue is in the object in front of her.
