Re: Terrain Buildings
What's the copper patina secret? As my ogres have a fair amount of copper (gut plates) that may look good on them...

Re: Terrain Buildings
The way I do it is to start with an undercoat of a turquise-ish color, then drybrush or paint (depending on how lazy I feel) a Tin Bitz-y metallic color on top, leaving the turquoise showing in recesses. (Actually, NMM techniques work great here too, with just red-brown highlighted up through orange- or yellow-brown, since weathered copper isn't really all that metallic looking.)YellowStreak wrote:What's the copper patina secret? Re: Terrain Buildings
I do it by making a wash of turquoise.

Re: Terrain Buildings
Both Dave's and Prim's methods work. Here's what I did in this instance:YellowStreak wrote:What's the copper patina secret? As my ogres have a fair amount of copper (gut plates) that may look good on them...
1. Dark base layer (black or brown)
2. Paint with an even layer of metallic paint (copper or reddish bronze).
3. Mix some dilute verdigris/turquoise paint and go over the object a few times, letting the paint collect in the recesses a bit, and move it into areas where you think water might naturally drip and pool. Make sure some copper shows through here and there.
Optionally, you can drybrush it again with copper if you want to bring out any detail the verdigris has obscured.
My verdigris colour was a 2:1:1 mix of turquoise, olive green, and dark grey. I don't think it has to be exact, just don't make it too bright blue or green.
If you want something to look really old and encrusted with oxide, you can start with the turquoise and then just dry-brush copper on it.

Re: Terrain Buildings
For the record, Ten's method is pretty much exactly what I do for verdigris (good for nurgle marines, is a bit of verdigris)

Nice. Thought it would have been in a tree. And agree, the brickwork is excellent.

Re: Terrain Buildings
Very good indeed. I actually thought that was the publicity photo for the box. Well done mate.
I picked up a model train magazine yesterday. Well recommended for ideas for scenary and board building. Just up the scale and take out the train line. Unless it's Flames of War or something Steam punk.

Forget about yesterday, don't worry about tomorrow because all that matters is today.
