So, here's what I have to show on these projects.

There're pictures of the DZC stuff in the main painting thread, so I won't update that here until I have more to show. I also need to resolve to only take pictures with sunlight, methinks.

Napoleonics:

Considering how long I've been sitting on these miniatures, that is a sad number to have painted. (That's why the resolution, frankly.) They ought to look good when they're all done up, though!

Battle of 5 Armies - first is the "Good" army, a mix (as befits the source material) of Elves, Men, and Dwarfs, plus a Giant Fookin' Bear. I tried to give each faction a distinct color scheme, which may or may not hurt the color cohesion of the whole force.
Image

Then the "Evil" army, which is lots of goblins, wargs, and goblin warg-riders. Less visually interesting, but much bigger:

Will update the thread as I work!

Have to do touchup and base decoration (and remember to take photos with natural sunlight), but dang if a (very tiny) cavalry charge isn't cool.

Goal 2: 6mm Napoleonics (Timeline: by Summer)

4/10 bases of line infantry
3/6 bases of heavy dragoons
1/3 bases of light dragoons
0/3 bases of hussars
0/4 artillery pieces
0/3 command bases

Let's see who will pound the longest.

I think I'm going to have to go back over all these guys and add some static grass to their bases or something. The biggish bases have a lot of bare real estate on 'em.

Goal 2: 6mm Napoleonics (Timeline: by Summer)

4/10 bases of line infantry
3/6 bases of heavy dragoons
1/3 bases of light dragoons
0/3 bases of hussars
4/4 artillery pieces
0/3 command bases

Daw! Look at the little wee men. かわいい!

Why not add some mini hedges/bushes/trees to fill up a couple of the bases a bit?

In addition to being cute as heck, this little artillery battery would set you back all of 2 and a half pounds, which is hard to argue with, heh.

It's another option, certainly. I do have some more chunky flock laying around that would fit the bill.

Ah, the slippery-sloped rabbit hole of historicals.

It's beginning to bother me inordinately that the starter pack I got from Baccus has (with its 10 bases of line infantry and 12 bases of cavalry, however you want to split those up into units) a woefully unhistorical ratio of foot to horse. Add to that the fact that I could double the amount of infantry, while also adding some light / flank companies, for about 2000 yen, and...

But no! No purchases 'til I finish at least one of these projects completely. Bad Dave!

They look good, dude. Keep it up and best of luck with your resolution to finish the models up first.

Not a great photo, but here's my initial goal for DZC done, the contents of one starter box:

Image

So that's:

Initial Goal: Done!
3/3 Hunter Gravtanks
3/3 Reaper AA Gravtanks
2/2 Intruder APCs
6/6 stands of infantry
3/3 Marauder dropships

Next up for DZC is the stuff I need to get 1000 points:
0/1 Desolator
0/1 Marauder dropship
0/2 Intruder APCs
0/6 stands of infantry

Cool looking minis. DZC is definitely one of the more tempting games that I don't play.
