Not too shabby at all mate.
You might want to try making the highlights a little less thick though. Try using the side of the brush against the edge rather than the tip.

The highlights you can see (the thicker lines) are actually a mid-tone.Spevna wrote:Not too shabby at all mate.

The base colour is Shadow Grey. The highlights (done using the side of a brush) are Space Wolf Grey. The thicker lines you can see are a 50/50 mix of the two.

oooh! Ooooh! Primarch, sir! I know what you could do!
mix up a 2:1 of shadow grey and space wolf grey. Water it down substantially, so its not opaque at all. Thicker than a wash, but thinner than normal paint. Youre aiming for "translucent" but not "invisible".
paint this on at the junction of the shadow grey and the sw grey. if you paint from the shadow to the junction, and from the sw grey to the junction (i.e. not parallel to the line between the two colours, but towards it) then you will get a lovely smooth blend. Honest injun. Keep the brush not too loaded. get paint on it, then kinda press the side of the bristles gently into a tissue so it leaches the paint out of it, mostly.
try it - you might be surprised by how schmoove it looks.

Re: Legio VI
good use of a Gun Dam pen... I could not get mine to write very well... it worked for like a model and a half then is all but stopped writing now I need to free hand again... How many models have you used the GunDam pen on?

Re: Legio VI
I dont know. I have been using it for about 4 years now. Probably a lot. I also have a Micro Pen that I use for black lining models as the Gundam pen is a little too big.Admiral-Badruck wrote:good use of a Gun Dam pen... Don't do large areas with them, put the lid on when you finish, thats all I have been doing.Admiral-Badruck wrote:wow I do not know what I am doing wrong I have owned 3 pens in the last 4 years and they die soooo quickly I had given up on them...
Well, I took a crack at this (I'll post pics later), the original highlights are still visible, but now there is a third layer between them, so I have Shadow Grey, 2:1 Shadow Grey:Space Wolves Grey, 1:1 Shadow Grey:Space Wolves Grey, Space Wolves Grey. It didnt make that much of a difference really and added a lot of extra time to an already time-consuming paint scheme. I'm not sure if I will do it to all the models or not.me_in_japan wrote:mix up a 2:1 of shadow grey and space wolf grey. Water it down substantially, so its not opaque at all. Thanks though.
