I'd go for the top one personally. The red and blue are too bright and draw attention away from the miniature.

@ M_i_J - Having seen your home made bases, can I ask why you broke off the edges and stuck them to GW bases? Just curious is all.

gotta go with grey for this one. the others draw too much away from the model.

Black, think it draws the least attention of them all.

@all - well, since the unanimous consensus is black, then black it shall be. (ok, vossy said grey, but since there is no grey, im gonna assume he meant black. Whatever youre smoking, vossy, its affecting your eyesight...

)
@prim re: "can I ask why you broke off the edges and stuck them to GW bases? "
I didnt. The whole thing theyre standing on is made of resin, including the "GW base" bit. I made a whole bunch of eldary tiles (like, 6" square of em) and then broke it into bits and stuck em roughly onto GW bases. I textured the bits in between tiles with sand, for a sand-blown-over-ancient-civilisation feel, then cast the whole shebang in resin. The ones on these minis are the most tiley and least sandy ones, but theres plenty of desert to go around overall.
thanks for the input, chaps - im off to paint 60 small bases black round the edges...

I said the top one, (which to me looks grey). Which actually makes 2 votes to 2. So that is actually pretty far from being unanimous.

ah. i see. just as well i havent started painting em yet
its not grey, btw - its coal black (from P3 paints). This is basically halfway between black and hawk turquoise. It looks turquoise on my monitor...
So, anyone care to tilt the balance one way or t'other? Pikey? Badruck? Andy P? Anybody? turquoise or black. whatll it be?

I would go with dark gold to tie in to the model much like a framing a painting.. you could paint one of them and see how that looks...
I would not use the read or the blue they just clash...
the black makes it look like it was not painted I painted my RedScorpions black and nobody noticed that I had painted them. That said It is a neutral color and will not clash...
the top left on looks good but I think gold would look better... even if it would be attracting some attention IMHO paint it gold..
*badruck goes to ground for 3+ cover saves*
