Norse inspired fantasy

Post by kojibear » Fri Oct 28, 2011 11:29 am

Hi guys. I just finished a book by Margaret Weiss and Tracy Hickman called Secret of the Dragon, the second in a series. The first book was called Bones of the Dragon.

The story has a lot of Norse inspired myth which was quite cool. An easy and satisfying read if you are so inclined.

If memory serves, back in the day, I mean early 90s, wasn't there a Norse army for Warhammer Fantasy?

there was. They lived in norsca, which has largely been amalgamated into the chaos wastes, these days. Technically there are still norse in WHFB. Theyre in that bloody big book of chaos stuff.

Weiss and Hickman are still writing? And they are still writing about dragons?

Stick with what you know I guess.

Norse do crop up from time to time in WFB. I know that one of the Regiments of Renown or Dogs of War was a Norse unit. I dont think GW ever did a full army for it. (though I could be wrong).
#Edit# - Looks like GW made quite a few metal infantry for the Norse. You can find them here:
http://zachary.org/games/whcatalog.php in the Empire section. And I found that through typing Warhammer Norse into google. :D It's easy to do.

There is a fan made PDF kicking around somewhere.
Ah... here it is: http://www.scribd.com/doc/34396670/Warh ... mies-Norse

And Gripping Beast do some awesome plastic vikings, though probably a little small compared to GW.

Their online store has a tonne of Viking, Saxon and Norman models for their recent Saga game.
