Actually, I too wouldn't object to the occasional super heavy in a game of 40k, with, as you say, proper warning.

When big stuff becomes the core of the game, then I think that is where the problems arise. Having the option to use it sometimes is cool, but it shouldn't be every game by any means. Given that the Wraithknight has stats in line with the Tyranid Scythed Heirodule (a 600+ point gargantuan creature), I am dubious about how OTT the marine version will be.

Honestly speaking, I'd like to see more regular troops in the game and less big super weapons.

I'm not real keen on big, big games myself. I don't like painting whole "armies", I like converting and painting miniatures. But that's just me. I suppose the inclusion of all these big robots is to make it easy for the 12 year olds to spend 100 bucks. One big model is easier to put together and paint than a bunch of little ones.
I wonder if GW will ever start making pre painted figs like Dust Tactics.

Me neither BUT I played a 1750pt game against MiJ the other day and was genuinely surprised at how little there was on the board.

Now, it may be different if one were constructing a well balanced and tactical army list ( I just went with what I had painted as I dont like bare metal/plastic), especially when playing Orks.

Mmn.

Mega-termies: bad. Very bad. They look like termies, but...bigger. Clumsier. Um. Less physically possible. (Where do the marines' arms go, exactly?) Prime example of New GW Style (TM and c Games Workshop, now and forever)

Vanguard: meh, more marines. Do they not already have an assault marine box?

Vet serg and librarian: these are very nice, actually. Properly grizzled looking.

Captain: meh.

Rhino dakkashootacannon: aesthetically not bad, but it's just another example of "how do we sell more? Make em BIIIIIGGGEEEEEEERRRRRRRRR!!!!!!!1!!11!!!!!!one!!!!!!"

I like the models I'm seeing, especially the uber termies and the rhino variant and plasma thingy, but as for fluff I don't recall reading about such things until now. Maybe it's all bak tracking now and the imperium is now in the 40th millennium instead of the 41st?

But the prices are remain exorbitant. No thank you.
