Right, I've had a look at the codex, and I'm a bit confused. Do I have to include one of those three Guardian Hosts in my army, or is that only if I want to use the other nifty detachments? Can't I just make a regular FOC army anymore ?

Regular FOC is fine. Use the formations if you want their special rules.

Great points re the jetbikes - in the end Ill have to agree its mostly a moot point as I dont see anyone in our group bringing it to the table. Nevertheless I recognise its significance in the wider scope, in terms of GW selling strategy.

The aspect warriors are strong but their special rules are not totally broken. Good without a doubt, but not broken. I like the changes for the aspect warriors - well most of them. These are supposed to be THE warriors of the craftworlds and I like that using all of them is much more possible. Warp Spiders can use their warp jump to escape in their opponents shooting phase, but in their following turn they may not use their warp jump. Howling Banshees lost their ability to lower the initiative of their opponents, but gained a respite from overwatch thanks to their banshee masks. They are still T3 S3 4+ save. Their weapons are AP3 but they wound on 4s and 5s.
