I'll have to take a peak next time we get together. I had the impression it was a skirmish game though.

It's both. They have a separate set of rules for skirmish called Showdown. You can DL it for free from their website.

For the few of you out there who have yet to try this awesome game:

Beasts of War have posted a video running you through the game step by step.

Hopefully this will give you a good idea of how the game works. :D

However did you come across that little ditty? :D Quite catchy, but why do I keep thinking of a Russian Kalinka dance????

I play cutlass just because I get to talk like a pirate and say thinks like ..."Arrg it be me turn ye son of whoring of goat, and when I be done, I'll drink me rum and dance on yer bones an' gloat!" "Arrgggg!"

Pirate ships!
Sadly, as with all of Ainsty's stuff, the shipping is a bit high. The small ship costs an extra 12 quid to send it :( .
Still, very very nice pieces of kit though. Good find Spevna.

Nice ships!

I would like to give this game a shot, this has probably been asked before but can you tell me how many models and what else I need to get started.
I have got these guys so far to form my main crew

Are they ok for the game?
As for the faction I was thinking privateers, what do you think they would fit as?

You generally need between 7 and 9 models for a starting crew.
Those guys would be fine as navy, privateers or pirates really.
