It's all Greek to me.

Warlord Games have recently bought out Immortal Miniatures after the manager of Immortal decided that he would like to move on to other projects.

Since then, Warlord have been repackaging the Immortal range and adding a few bits and pieces. The range include plastic Greek and Spartan hoplite infantry as well as metal slingers and cavalry.

The models look pretty cool and the range is slowly expanding. As usual, Warlord are offering a starter army deal, 200 Hoplites(5 or 6 units, enough for a game) for 90 pounds (about 9000 yen after you discount the british taxes) along with free shipping.

You can check out the rest of their range including cavalry, commanders and skirmishers here.

If I didnt already have half built Roman and Celtic armies I would be tempted.

There are some female naked hoplites available from hasslefree miniatures and kabuki. I'm tempted but I can't quite justify it. I suppose I could call it art for arts sake but that would be shameless. :D
Despite that they are beautiful models and the guys on CMON have painted then very well indeed.

Aren't the hasslefree ones a bit big? Lovely minis, though - you're dead right about that. There's a particularly good version of Artemis by Jeremie Teboul which is definitely worth a look.

I'm not a good enough painter to justify buying minis of naked women for artistic reasons.

Back on the topic of minis, Victrix is also doing a Greek range that will probably go well with the Warlord figures. Must resist the urge to buy another historical army....

But who are you going to fight with an ancient Greek army? Unless you have some Egyptians or Persians to pit them against…

Celts I guess. Though the Celts didnt invade Greece with a sizable force until about 50 years after hoplites were replaced by Carthaginian style Phalaganites, both Celtic forces and Greeks often served abroad as mercenaries, and the Celts didn't stay put in one place for very long.
I also have some Romans, but as they are from the early Imperial era, I'm not sure if they are suitable. Still, as I am not going to be buying any Greeks anytime soon it doesn't matter that much. But you make a fair point. If I buy Greeks I will also be needing some Persians....hmmm....

Prim! Don't do iiiiiiiiiiiiiiittt.

Buy the one female naked hoplite and be satisfied. Less is more and just for the fun of painting. :D

No worries.
I have enough historical armies on the go at the moment, not to mention Warhammer and Warmahordes. I am not buying any models this year (with one or two exceptions) and certainly not a whole new army.

If someone else bought Greeks though, it would definitely inspire me to finish my celts. :D

incidentally, 10 quid for that 54mm version is pretty damn good. Youre usually looking at more like 20 for a big un like that.
