As long as they are on similar bases to the 28mm guys, is it a huge problem?
Nooooo.....It's the pygmy romans!! Head for the hills.

Nope, similar base size and everything is A-ok. Model size doesn't matter, it's what you do with it that counts.

In that case I may well go the 20mm way. Zvezda do some nice 20mm stuff at very good prices.

Have you thought about using that scale for other historical stuff?

28mm is the one true scale for gaming with IMHO.

Having seen some of Ashmies models, I dont particularly like the super flexible plastic, though that is really just a personal preference. Besides, I like Warlord and want to support them as they are the ones making the game. I know nothing about Zvzzzvdavz except that they dont have enough vowels and too many Z's in their name.
That and I already have 200 28mm Celts plus cavalry and chariots. :D :D :D

But if 20mm floats your boat then by all means have your boat floated, I wont mind in the slightest. Just dont expect me to avoid all the short jokes.
"Ooh a failed charge? You came up a little short there." :D

Ha........ha.................ha..................

I had a look at the Warlord Celts and they are quite nice.

But Caesar do some nice 20mm Ancient Germans too.

Hmm...

But I am also quite keen to get into Bolt Action (depending on the game size and whether or not we could shoehorn in some WWW2 ideas). or FOW stuff.

Decisions, decisions.....

Do Caesar do anything except German infantry? I had a quick look through their listings and couldnt see much. Mind you at 20mm I am sure you will be able to find another maker if need be.

Anyway, for now, dont sweat it. I will get some minis stuck together and we can try BA and HC and you can see what you think.

As for FOW, all my stuff is up for sale (Ashmie has asked for it), so I'm not interested. Other players round here enjoy it, but it's just not my cup of tea I am afraid.

Details on this now here -

Looks like the HC rulebook is the currently available hardback. At 60 GBP, this is a great deal if you don't already have the rules, especially if you can persuade a friend to trade their Celt or Roman bits.

Incidentally a Pike and Shotte boxed set is going to be released in August..come on kids, get with it! :D

Technically it should be Republican Romans in the set as the Roman Empire was formed after the fall of Gaul, but that aside, it looks like a nice little deal. Given the cost of the book and the Celts, you effectively get the Romans for free. 2 people picking up a set each and exchanging the Romans/Gauls, gives you a good start to your first Brigade and more than enough to play the game with, especially if you use smallish units. :D

The Pike and Shotte deal also looks good. Shame I already have both books.... :D

That is a good deal all the need to do now is hand out some dice and measuring stiks.
