Coir mat fields

Hey, guys. I brought back some coir mats from the US and cut one up to be some fields for wargaming. Back in the old gaming group there were some unique rules we had for crop fields. These were the rules we created:
Standing Crops

- Anything in it or seen through it is concealed
- Infantry, man packed, light and medium guns may Go to Ground in the field
- Gone to Ground units in a field (not on the edge) may not see or be seen by units further than 6" away.
- For purposes of observing, an observer in the field (not on the edge) can only see out if they relinquish the 6" rule. An observer would have to stand up or otherwise show his posistion to see out. They still can be Gone to Ground, but no longer gain the 6" rule.
- An elevated observer/firing unit can ignore the 6" rule. They do not ignore the penalties of Gone to Ground however; only the viewing distance.
- Movement as cross country
We sometimes modified these rules. Sometimes we imagined the crops to be over head height so all teams were given the 6" bubble rule even when moving.

The FOW rules are much more straight forward but less dynamic in my opinion. Any team in a field is given cover is the majority of the team is covered by the height of the unit. This mean you have to compare the height of the coir mat compared to the height of the tank model. This is fine, but we found this a little plain. You would soon discover which tanks did and didn't get cover from the mat.
