Flames of War is currently the most popular World war 2 wargames system.

Models are based on 1/100th scale, i.e. a infantry figure is 15mm.

Divides WW2 into 3 distinct periods: Early, Middle and Late War. At the moment we are playing Late War.

Currently covers the European/Mediterranean theatres of Operations but a Pacific War version is in the works.

Simple to learn if you have a background in other table-top wargames.

Doesn't require a lot of background knowledge of WW2.

Currently, there are players in Tokyo and the Nagoya/Chubu area.

Reasonably priced miniatures and rules with lots of free expansion material online.

If you are on a budget, there are cheaper alternatives that won't look out of place on the gaming table.

A well supported website with active discussion forums.

A busy release schedule, there's something released every other week!

A lot more player input than certain other companies.

Anyways, enough from me, check them out:

Someday I'll have my Italian army, but first I need to work through some other armies for some other games.

[moderator hat on]

careful chaps.

@badruck - I know that you were just saying that Mike's post was particularly concise and helpful, but it really did seem at first read that you were somewhat unappreciative of the posts people made in the warmahordes topic. Bear in mind when people post a reply to a question theyre taking time out of their evening to do so, and probably wont appreciate their help being dissed.

@dave - be cool, old bean. He didnt mean nothing by it, I'm sure.

[/moderator hat off]

Despite being a complete newb to the game of warmahordes, I'm gonna try and write a pithy round up (a-la Pikey) of what warmahordes is. Hoepfully that'll keep folks happy...

Now, let's all hold hands and sing songs together!

just to distract folks even further, how wrong is this??!?!

That... is about 12 different kinds of wrong.

And I do apologize for being pissy - to Badruck in particular, but also to the board as a whole for bringing the level down.
