I saw those reviews a while back. (Yes, I watched every single one for all three movies.) They are just awesome for their own sake.

I put off watching them for ages. Wish I had watched them sooner.
He does a good job on Star Trek Insurrection too.

Re: Who else is a Star Wars geek?
I reckon the throne room scene alone more than makes up for 'em, myself. Powerful stuff.Spevna wrote:Episode six had Ewoks. Mediocre at best.
Any SW fans who haven't, do yourself a favor and give the CG Clone Wars cartoon a chance too. Definitely kid-oriented, but really good stuff, that fleshes out Anakin and Obi-Wan a lot more than the movies could, and has plenty of cool side characters and more than its share of death and mayhem. It's made with only the lightest involvement from Lucas, and it shows.
(Also, I think I'm going to get me the RPG that this thread is actually about, even if I'm not sure I'll ever get a chance to play it. Even the negative reviews are selling me on it - it's not for everyone, but it seems to hit a lot of points that interest me in RPG design, as indeed the WHFRP 3rd edition rules do.)
Also yeah, the Red Letter reviews kick major booty. It's a bit of a time investment to get through, but well worth it.
Feel free to call me Dave!

He should do Star Trek Nemesis. Worst Trek film ever.Spevna wrote:Tenorikuma wrote:I saw those reviews a while back. (Yes, I watched every single one for all three movies.) They are just awesome for their own sake.

I'm afraid I must disagree with you there. Insurrection holds that honour in my opinion.

Re: Who else is a Star Wars geek?
Insurrection is worse than Nemesis, though Nemesis is awful in it's own right. It's also the trek film that broke the rule of "Odd is bad, Even is good."
E.g.
01 Motion Picture - Bad
02 Wrath of Khan - Good
03 Search for Spock - Bad
04 Voyage Home - Good
05 The Final Frontier - Bad
06 Undiscovered Country - Good
07 Generations - Bad
08 First Contact - Good
09 Insurrection - Bad
10 Nemesis - Bad
11 Star Trek (ie the new one) - Good
12 Into Darkness..... - Watch this space.

You run it I'll play it.

Re: Who else is a Star Wars geek?
Well, I've got the Edge of the Empire core book in my greasy mitts. It's a huge, beautiful book, as one would expect from Fantasy Flight.Tenorikuma wrote:@ToD: Let us know if you do buy it!
I like the look of the game, too - some folks around on the intarwebs are upset that there aren't full rules for force users in the core book (apparently there will be - again, Fantasy Flight, so go figure - a series of 3 core books; this one is outer rim scoundrels, the next is rebellion and empire, the third is Jedi and Sith), but there are rules for force-sensitives robust enough to reproduce anything Luke could do in the original trilogy, so I figure that's good enough. Really, you could create most of the characters who appear in the original trilogy with very little trouble.
The rules are an (apparently) slightly-refined version of the WHFRP 3ed rules, which I liked in the demo ashmie ran a while back. Characters seem to be a lot less fiddly even than that, and the resolution rules look pretty dang straightforward.
So we'll see. I may try running it sometime if the opportunity presents itself.
