The game could be expedited with simulated first turns and a pre-constructed board. You lose some flavor, but still get the meal, so to speak.

I'm okay for the 9th, the only thing is I'm staying at the Marriot with my g/f on the night of the 8th, leaving on the following morning. After check out and everything, I figure I'll be free around 12 or 1. If that's okay, I'm game.

That sounds fine. I think Primearch will roll up around 12. That will give me a bit of time to go over the game a bit with him. Then, when you arrive we can get started directly. I reckon with just three of us, maybe four, depending one my friend Emanuele's schedule, we can finish a whole game. :D

Well, I played my first game of TI today and I have to say it was rather fun.
I think because we only had 3 players, the game was lacking something. There wasn't much room for politics or trade and those abilities were largely unplayed. I think with more players the game would be a lot more fun.
That said, the game took 5 1/2 hours with just 3 players. Bigger games will take considerably more time. I think if we were to do this we'd need to start in the AM and finish in the evening.

I'm looking forward to playing again.

I had a great time! Thanks for coming out today, guys! I agree, more players will make for more interesting interactions. The original game was designed with six players in mind. It will take a considerably long time to play, and adequate space, too.

For anyone who is interested here are some links to help you get a better idea of how the game works. One is a video review/walk-though, and the other is a text walk through. They are a little dry, but the do the a good job of explaining the game.

Let's see if we can get 4 or 5 players together for our next game! 8-)

Sorry, it looks like I wont be able to make a game on the 21st. My wife wants to do something that evening so I cant go out and play games.

TBH a full day would be better for this game I think.

Was it ever confirmed that we were going to get together on the 21st?

Not really, but I just wanted to let people know in case they were still thinking about it.

I guessed that we weren't when you said that it took over 5 hours with 3 people. Hopefully we can get together some Sunday.

Yeah, i think that organizing a full day would be best. It's the only way to do the game justice.
