So what are your favourite systems?

If it's not Peuto Rico the boardgame was it http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Carcassonn ... rd_game%29
or Settlers of Catan as Prim suggested.

@Prim: For me, I never got around to playing Settlers of Catan. It was always present, but as an older boardgame it only got brought out once in awhile. Sure looks like an awesome game and I'd sure like to play it.

This is no particular order, just different system that the Spevna is drawn to/interested in.

Miniatures games

FUBAR - Mucho grande versatility
http://thegamesshed.wordpress.com/2010/ ... ern-rules/

BloodBowl - Best game ever.

WH40K RT - The nostalgia has reduced the Spevna to tears and poverty. With the right group, it rocks!

Uncharted Seas - Close 2nd to BloodBowl. Heaps of fun and fast to play. Speed is a real plus for this system.

Computer games

Age of Empires II - Simple system for collecting resources, works a treat.

Stronhold - The ability to be either a nasty tyrant or the sweetest lord of the land makes this uber.

Infamous - Super powers AND you get to choose between being a villain or hero via the tasks you complete.

I'm not going to make a list, because there are so many great games and I'm bound to forget something. :D

Personally, I think that any game you can have fun playing is good. More than the system you need to have the right people to play with. I have played some bad games that were fun because of the company I kept and I have played some good systems where games sucked because of my opponent.

It's a fair comment I reckon. If anything it's good to hear what people like and have played. I've already picked up some good recommendations. Job, I've never really played many tile placing games but they look quite entertaining. Also Spev, that Stronghold Castle building game is good, I was wondering about that on Steam. I like the way many games nowadays seem to give you that freedom to play as evil spirited or fair minded.
I've added some new boardgames to my amazon wish list already. Keep em coming folks if you think of any more classics old or new. ;)

Yeah, that is the one I found this morning. But I recall it looking a little different. Maybe it was an earlier edition because I last played it in 2009.

I absolutely agree. AoE 2 was a host of fun. I had epic battles on it. I loved the balance of units, the complexity of resources (4 types of resources, markets, trading, relic gold, etc.) and as you wrote, the simplicity of some of the tasks. It was on my list until the last two shaved it off the list.

@ Spevna, This is a link for the old Amiga game Heindall. Classic game!
What version of Stronghold do you recommend? I downloaded the free to play version last night. It seems good but looks like I would have to spend a lot of money of card packs and crowns in order to get a decent game.

Apologies for Spevna's lack of linking skills.

The original Stronghold is best. Just download the original and install it. What do you mean by cards and gold? That wasn't in the original as far as Spevna remembers. It was just a straight out the box PC game.

I finally got around to downloading the Stronghold collection. 20 dollors gets you 4 games. Currently playing the first one. It's very good and quite difficult. I had to switch to easy setting from level 4 as The Rat kept invading and destroying my village.
The online game I was referring to was new this year. Stronghold online looks like a bit of a swizz to be honest. You have to pay real money to get game credits and skill cards otherwise you can't send out scouts and build your town. I'll stick with the old versions which I believe can be played online anyway.
Great recommendations. Thanks.
