Reaper Bones - Kickstarter

Post by Primarch » Tue Aug 21, 2012 2:33 pm

Reaper (a mini company specialising in RPG character and monster minis) is currently nearing the end of it's kickstarter project to rerelease it's metal minis in a new soft plastic form. M_i_J mentioned the project a few weeks ago as a way of grabbing a mini case for $25 and I have been following the kickstarter since then. The models themselves are made of a softish white plastic. It's more flexible than the usual GW stuff, but the same kind of material is used for minis like Dust Tactics and the old D&D collectible minis game. It paints up well and doesn't need a primer. Admiral Badruck has some if you need an opinion on it.
Originally it started off with an offer of 30 minis plus some optional extras. Now the project is reaching the end, the offer is substantially better. A pledge of $100 (plus $25 for shipping) currently gets you ALL of this:

Thats close to 200 models.

Plus, you can add on any of the following to your pledge.

I have no use for these minis, but I am still sorely tempted by this deal. The whole thing ends on saturday, so if you want in on it, I would suggest you be quick about it. The project and bigger pictures can be found here: http://www.kickstarter.com/projects/151 ... n?ref=live

I've been keeping an eye on it, too. There are some minis in the add-on section I would really quite like, but I really can't bring myself to pledge at the 100buck level just to get em - I can't think of a use for all those minis (plus, I already pledged pretty big on the Studio Mcvey kickstarter a while back) :( its a fecking good deal though, even if you only use a third of em or so.

Anybody else getting in on it that wouldn't mind me piggybacking a coupla things onto their order?

Just an idea, but does anybody reckon a NagoyaHammer group pledge could work? If enough of us (say, 5 people) put in 25 bucks each, thatd allow us to pledge the Vampire level as a group. We could divvy up the minis either by consensus or draw lots for ones we couldn't agree on. Or, pick out some minis we like and keep the rest as a kind of Naghammer pool, to be drawn upon as needed. We'd never need to buy RPG minis again, that's for sure. Of course, if we did make a group pledge, it'd open up the ability to order as many add-on minis as we individually wanted. (I think - would need to check if you can order multiple copies of 1 add on mini per pledge.)

What say you? Anybody up for it, or is it all a bit pie in the sky?

I could go along with that. I believe you can also order additional copies of the minis included in the intial set as well.

Ok, having checked the details on the site, it is possible to order up to 4 extra of each mini without increasing the cost of shipping.
Personally I would like to get both of the townsfolk packs from the main set (fighters, trolls and dragons are a dime a dozen, but a serving wench? those things are like gold dust), but everything else I am easy about either way. So if someone else would like the townsfolk we will need to order extras.
As for the optional add ons, I am looking at the Clockwork Dragon $15, Demons $15 and the Pathfinder Red Dragon $10, for a total of $40 extra. (That bone giant does look cool mind....)

So currently we have 3 people, M_i_J, Konrad and myself. Is that an even 3 way split or do you guys want to pay less/more and claim less/more of the loot?

I'm not mega fussy, but if there's any elfy types in there (need to check) I'd like em. Just for RPG purposes, really. What I really want is the big ass zombie dragon at the bottom.

I'll take a proper look through everything later - I just got back yesterday and am jet lagged to all hell :(

Any more takers? 3 is nice, but still a bit pricey for my liking. 1 or 2 more interested parties would make it all much more affordable. Anyone? 25bucks for more minis than you can shake a stick at? That's less than 2500yen. Heck, I spend that on train fare going to joshin...

@prim - if it ends at just 3 folks, I'd like to pay less for an uneven split, if you and Konrad are amenable. I don't think I can justify the 43ish bucks (plus dragon costs) itd be otherwise. I already spent mega big this past month in Scotland :(

No worries, I am quite happy to get more. :D

Ok, so it looks like it is just M_i_J, Konrad and myself so far, though there is still a little time left if other folk want to jump in.
@ M_i_J & Konrad - Assuming that it is just the three of us, how much do you want to pay towards the basic package and what extras do you want? I dont have a lot of money on my credit card, but I should be able to handle any reasonable requests.
