Confrontation Coming Back?

Post by The Other Dave » Wed Feb 08, 2017 2:29 am

As someone who has held on to his Confrontation hardcover rulebook, and played a lot of the game back in the day, I'm guardedly excited about this.

http://www.beastsofwar.com/confrontatio ... etop-soon/

Not much news to be had in English as yet, but it looks like they're going the skirmish route (rather than the in-retrospect AoS-ish mass battles rules the briefly-released prepainted plastic game had), and will be focusing on the miniatures, which were always the very best thing about the game.

Shame I sold my models off... :D

Oh is this the one with the were wolf faction? I wouldn't mind seeing them in plastic. Hmm

Both werewolves AND S&M evil werewolves, yes. (I collected the latter, heh.)

No word yet on metal vs resin vs plastic, but my hunch would be that if it's a small operation rebooting the franchise, we can expect metal or resin.

In plastic, though, there's lots of boxes of the pre-painted slightly bendy plastics from the stillborn mass battles game to be found. Miniature market, for example, has lots, deeply discounted. Prepaints repaint up very nicely too.

the prepaint minis were very nice, i thought. i use a bunch of them (repainted) as grotesques in my dark eldar army and they fit in just fine.

Yeah, they were - I've only seen the AT-43 minis first hand, but they were really quite good.

And something like, say, the starter army box would be a very solid force for the generic fantasy skirmish game of your choice.

Hmm...

Yeah, if Age of Ragnarok or AT-43 was released now I imagine they'd do pretty well. Not only is the wargaming market more open, but X-wing has got people open to prepaints to the extent that people are actually complaining that FFG's forthcoming fantasy mass battles game isn't prepainted - but there was a lot of sniffing at it back in the day.

Well, to be fair, Rackham would also have to avoid screwing the pooch with production like they did at launch, and not alienate fans who'd come to associate the name with absurdly high-quality metal minuatures, but still.
