Just wondering: Does anyone know anything about SMOG?
http://www.smog1888.com/
The minis have been available for ages now, and theyre very, very lovely (and weird, in many cases).

Theyre 54mm scale (which explains the cost), but there seems to be very little inkling of what theyre for. The website is nice enough, and worth a read (occasional odd english, due to it being originally in french) but theres no mention of any game associated with it. Surely there must be, no?

I'd heard of an April 2011 release for the game, but haven't been able to find any new info lately - delayed, p'raps? The last news I remember on TTGN was a
card preview back in November.
I agree that the models are dead sexy.

I believe there is was a game planned for the models in 2010, but according to what I have found online it never materialised as the guy making it had some kind of mishap. Anyway, I just had a brief look at their facebook page. First entry is from a member who went to Salute (the big gaming expo in the UK held last week) and who had talked to the smartmax guys. The rules for the game are due out in the next few weeks apparently.
My one gripe about the game/models (and one shared across the interwebs from what I have seen), is the scale. 54mm doesn't fit with anything I already have. That means if the game needs terrain, I need a whole new set which I cant use for anything else.

The models look great! But they're so expensive...

It may be that it dosnt need terrain. Scale wise, it likely wouldnt need a big table. I've been toying with getting one or two of th eminis purely for painting reasons, but if there was a game to back it up id be even more interested. The setting really appeals.

could use it for inquisitor. Or Dark Heresy in Planet of The Giants

Heck, it may even be a Tannhauser-esque boardgamey type thing, with sexy awesome playing pieces. A lot of the models would be... weird in a free-form tabletop environment.

Looks like M_i_J jumped the gun a little bit.
Rules are now available to preorder.
Its a board game of sorts, but you need between 3 and 6 of the minis each to play.
Nice minis, nice concept, but the sheer cost of it the models is off putting. I could get a Malifaux crew or a fleet for Dystopian Wars for (roughly) the cost of 1 figure for Smog.

Tbh, over the course of a year or two I could be persuaded to get 6 or so minis for the game, just for painting's sake. Depends on the techy bits of the rules, to a certain extent. I wonder if they have any kind of preview...

That would make 1 player for the game then.
If they were just more reasonably priced.....
Then again, my "Not Primarchs" collection set me back more than that per figure.

Here's an update on TTGN:
http://www.tabletopgamingnews.com/2011/05/05/46221
Short version: It looks as if it is, indeed, a quasi-boardgame Tannhauser-ish (or, if you like, Dust-ish, since some folks have played that recently) game, with cards plus minis on a set gaming area. Still, looks purty.
