Ork Dread Mob question.

Im thinking of taking a dread mob to Nag Ham.
The FW update was for 6th edition.
It has Killa Kanz priced at 35 points, and tells me to refer to the Ork codex for the stats.
The 7th edition codex has the Kanz priced at 50 points.

Do I use the FW points, and the 7th Ed. codex stats?
Do I use the FW points, and the 6th Ed. codex stats?
Do I use the 7th Ed. points AND stats?

It seems to me like I should follow the FW list for points, but use the most recent codex for stats when told to refer to a codex.

Would like to hear other's thoughts though.

I think that is an honest question, but I also think you have it right. Follow what your list says and I see no problem. Refer to the latest GW publication. It should be an awesome list to see on the table.

There is a dread formation in the new(ish) ghazkhull codex apparently, but it seems to require 2 gork/morkanauts. Dont think it is in line with the events guidelines, but it may useful or interesting. Details here partway down.

What changed with Killa Kans to make them 50% more expensive?

So long as you follow the same method throughout the list I don't care how you do it. Some units may be cheaper, others more expensive, with some armies using old books, others using newer ones, random armies getting supplements or formations or additional units beyond their book, anything goes really.
Choose the method you think is the most acceptable. If you table everyone turn 1, then you picked wrong. :D

They went from ws3 to ws2 :(
They now have a kan klaw :)
They break real easy :(


As it stands, I will build my list using the FW DreadMob points for units. Wherever it tells me to look for stats, rules, or wargear costs in a codex, I will refer to the most recent one.

If anyone has any objections, please let me know here.

The main reason kanz now cost 50pts is because they come with a free rokkit launcha now.
Used to be they were 35+weapons, so 40pts for big shoota, 50pts for rokkit, etc.
Now they are 50 for a big shoota, 50 for rokkit, etc.

35pts and the rokkit for free would be a little disingenuous and might actually border on making them good.

I would say if you are going to use the 6th ed points cost you should use the 6th ed upgrade costs as well.

I actually totally missed that. Yep, I reckon that if I take the 35pt Kanz in the FW dreadmob list, I would need to pay the extra for the weapons.
