Some new errata is up.

Looks like points drops for transports across the board, some buffs for the UCM's harder-hitting units, and some points bumps for Shaltari. Gives me some more wiggle room with points in my PHR lists, which is nice.

Ooh, also a new PHR command walker based on the special character Hades variant:

Check out dat laser! And (hopefully) it won't be obligated to take a dropship like the special character is. I may just have to get one.

The point and rule changes all look fair, even though they mean my Shaltari will get a little squeezed. I'm particularly happy that gunships for UCM and Shaltari both got E+2 as a buff and a points drop. I may need to buy some now.

What I'm most excited about is the new Shaltari hovertank command vehicle with the huge microwave cannon. The fluff description sounds like it will be counted as a flame weapon, which would mean Shaltari finally have access to the flame rule. My Coyote served me well in our game earlier, but I really want a flame weapon.

Yeah, it does seem like most armies will want either flamers or demolishers if they can manage it.

And yeah, the Thunderbird. Penalty to hit, plus countermeasures. *shudder* Plus it's an awesome model.

Speaking of demolishers, the points changes to PHR dropped my 1500-point force from just under 1500 to 1428, which gives me an interesting conundrum. Basically I can either get 2 scouts in a dropship (not very exciting, plus I'm not fond of the Janus models) or bump my planned 2 rocket launchers up to 4 while dropping my commander down from CV5 to CV4 (which hurts a bit). More rocket launchers would be, at the very least, amusing, and deploying them in 2 squadrons of two would let me put my demolisher eggs in more than one basket, as it were.

The Beasts of War guys had a "Dropzone Commander Boot Camp" recently, and it has a whole bunch of little videos about painting, the forces, the new special commanders, newbie tactics, and the like.

I've been meaning to pipe up on this thread. I just looked over the FAQ. I like the changes. Mostly I'm just happy to see that the game designer is trying to respond to player input and adjusting the game. I'll also have to try and pick up a copy of the new publication.

Rules for the new standard commanders are up:

Auxryn gets his wish with a commander vehicle with a flame weapon! And I think there is a Nemesis in my PHR future.

I should also say: Man, but this dude tempts me to play UCM like nobody's business.

And that picture completely misses the rack of ginormous missiles on the undercarriage. It is a horribly beweaponed beast.

A beast, I tell you!

...Holy crow, you're right, it costs more than the freakin' Nemesis. Still, it's a big hunk o' resin, that guy. They don't zoom in on it unfortunately, but you can get an idea of its big-osity in the Beasts of War video here.
