Dropfleet Commander

Post by The Other Dave » Mon May 23, 2016 8:43 am

I guess it's probably appropriate to have a separate thread for Dropfleet updates and discussion, so we don't clutter up the Dropzone one! I'll update the OP with a full introduction for the game when it gets released, and for now use it to pass on backer-only updates to any interested parties.

Recent updates!

Looks like things are proceeding apace - they've released some sprue images, starting with the starter box fleets, so it seems like things are pretty much on track:

Have a smattering of pictures from Salute too! There's lots to be found on the interwebs.

The shaltari are a bit...eyeball watering. It's not just the colours, but the frizziness of the ships combined with the bright gradation makes them feel a bit like a tie dye t-shirt. The PHR, otoh, are proper shiny. They look very nice all ranked up as a fleet. Shame I plumped for UCM, really :P (just kidding. I'm sure the fleet'll look lovely once assembled, too.)

I like how you can clearly imagine the vowel sounds each of the PHR ships are saying. "eee, ooo, eeh"

We got a quick update today - pictures of the Shaltari cruiser sprue and talk of a warehouse filling with components, and a note that they're now looking at a July (rather than the initially-predicted June) dispatch for the kickstarter rewards.

Another update a couple days ago: They're "almost ready" to begin shipping pledges - they're waiting on some printed elements and the last of the sprues - and are looking at general release of the game in mid- to late September. They had pictures of the space station sprue and launch assets sprue, which as the last two things funded in the kickstarter are probably all there is left to do. Doki doki!
