Apparently the London GT had it's share of incidents including one of the top contenders banned for life. So I want to take advantage to congratulate all those that made it to Nagoyahammer 2018 again. Especially Prim that arranged it. One example of the complains among many.

I heard that their plan was to have identical scenery on every table and for the scenery to be mirrored on both sides so as not to provide any advantage to players. Apparently it took quite a lot of effort to ensure that was the case on all 50 tables.
The cheating thing is a disgrace though.

And the organizer's response has been pretty shameful too - he pretty much blames everything on everybody else, and has pie-in-the-sky plans to get even bigger next year.

Also, blatant cheating during a livestreamed game is pretty... special behavior.

I understand that, after all the TO are a bunch of hardcore tournament players, but for the price they charged half painted terrain polystyrene is insulting.

The London GT terrain was obviously an eyesore, but functionally it was actually quite good. The 8th edition shooting rules make LOS blocking terrain extremely important.
Of course, with the entry fee they were charging, there's no reason they couldn't have had both good looking and functional terrain...

In the LoS blocking sense, yeah, it was functionally OK, but the complete lack of any area terrain was noted by a lot of folks. Heck, apparently they'd been planning on something not much more than "circles of colored felt" for swamps or craters or whatever and couldn't even manage that.

The really mind-bending thing is that GW sent them a couple pallets of studio terrain that sat unopened in a corner for the entire weekend. (Which, I mean, if you're going to have a dozen tables of GW studio terrain and then 180 tables of... what they used, it'd just show it up even more, but still.)

Ok, those were display/demo games put on by clubs and companies, but the ticket price was 10% of the GT and the tables looked gorgeous.
