Chaos Cultist Alternatives?
Does anyone know some good models that I can get for dirt cheap that would serve as good cultists? GW is both a bit expensive, and their variety is lacking. Seeing that I'll need several dozen cultists, I don't want a bunch of copies of the same 5 dudes.

This probably is the answer you're looking for but kit bashing GW kits is also viable.
They aren't cheap but some of the Necromunda gangs are pretty awesome. I guess the problem is whether you'd want to spend that much time, money, and effort on cannon fodder. You could also convert some (traitor) guardsmen, or Genestealer Cult into cultists if you're so inclined. If you buy a few different boxes and kit bash them you could get some decent variation while maintaining some vague uniformity. Throwing in a few boxes of easy build guys would help too.

The Necromunda gangs at least at a good bit of variety. I'd feel better about spending money on them if I get a lot of different models that I can paint. I was also eyeing the Blackstone Fortress cultists.

FWIW the BSF cultists double as a pretty good Kill Team.

Northstar do a conversion kit, but you don't get much in it.Karantu wrote: ↑Sun Nov 24, 2019 12:16 pmThese aren't bad either but you'd need to source the guns elsewhere.

Fantasy/AoS chaos marauders with lasguns may be an option?

As a man with 90 cultists (give or take a few conversions), my recommendations are:
1) Ebay - lots of spare cultists out there from the 6th Edition starter sets and the more recent box set with traitor guardsmen. Don’t forget Beastmen bestigor kits are great conversions with some 40k weapons. (All credit to Mike the Pike for my Beastmen cultists.) Another old Warhammer box worth converting would be the Empire militia.
2) Frostgrave - I really thought about converting a box but the project never came to fruition.
That’s my 2 cents.

Another option is to go with the "corrupted planetary militia" angle, which you can do pretty easily and cheaply with WW2 minis - you can get a box of 30 dudes from Warlord for like 40 bucks, and you could chaos them up pretty easily with just paint and stuff from the bits box.

While I won't caution anyone not to buy Warlord's WW2 minis (They are nice minis), I will say that they will be significantly smaller than CSM minis and even other GW cultists. GW parts will look stupidly oversized on Warlord figures. The Other Dave wrote: ↑Mon Nov 25, 2019 1:57 pmAnother option is to go with the "corrupted planetary militia" angle, which you can do pretty easily and cheaply with WW2 minis - you can get a box of 30 dudes from Warlord for like 40 bucks, and you could chaos them up pretty easily with just paint and stuff from the bits box.
