Those yanks look most splendid.

Seeing your armies is making smaller scale stuff even more appealing.

I've been considering getting two 10 or 15mm forces for Cross and Crescent. You make have just pushed me over the edge!

I'm finding that 15mm paints up nice and is really astonishingly cheap if you're not going the Flames of War "you need a whole company" route. Cross & Crescent is the SAGA Crusades variant, right? Irregular's got a huge range for like 30p the man.

I shall go and have a gander at Irregukar right now! Cheers :)

And yes, it's the Saga variant.

And here's Phase 2 of Dave's Antisocial WWII Project, done and dusted (aside from a fourth squad of infantry, but they're support so I don't mind not counting them).

Image

Just shy of two weeks after I took a picture of the whole force in gray plastic, here are the Germans, ready to show the Americans the meaning of the words "lavishly equipped with machine guns". Without a single game played, I'm really starting to fall in love with this scale for this size game (i.e., reinforced-platoon-scale). Cheap, easy to store, and quick and easy to paint up to a good standard - the only drawback being that 28mm is much much much more popular, heh. Heck, if I wouldn't need to get a whole table of terrain, I'd be ordering a platoon each of Marines and Japanese, like, tomorrow. (As it is, I'll be shelling out for some terrain for these dudes to round out Phase 3, then Mike and I are talking about dipping our toes into Age of Sail gaming.)

Nice anti-social minis.

Why do you never bother to include me in these discussions? We wouldn't be playing Naps in 28mm if you had shared your plans with the rest of us. I'm beginning to feel that it's not just your minis which are anti-social :D

Haha, we've just been quietly enabling each other on Facebook. And yeah, I know, I know! Napoleonics was a big fumble on our part.

So, check out Sails of Glory! It's sort of X-Wing meets the Age of Sail, with rules scaleable from beer-and-pretzels to full-grognard. The rules are available free online, and while the starter set is hard to find, Miniature Market (and probably other places) has ships and packs of all the counters and such you need, and just two or three ships are apparently the sweet spot for a fun game. I was looking at a pack of counters, the "ship mats" you need for tracking stuff, and a frigate and a couple ships of the line and it'd run about 60 USD including shipping.

As the ever-increasing count in my signature shows, this has sort of turned into the Year of 6mm for me. I've been continuing to add bits and bobs to my Napoleonics of late, and now have a nice well-rounded force of four infantry brigades and two cavalry brigades, all with artillery in support and all that loveliness, so I thought I'd line 'em up and take some pictures.

That's basically all I've got - although I do have replacement stands for the flank companies in skirmish formation, and really quite a lot more cavalry than I'll ever need still unpainted.
