Hi there Frans,
A company called Softbank markets and supports iphones in Japan.
Here is their English website...
http://mb.softbank.jp/en/

I hope that helps

Thanks

I understand that page but, they talk about packets like it is a data amount. How much is a packet?

If you go with the very simple White plan, you dont worry about packets at all, unless you are sending messages during offpeak hours. Unlike the states, Japanese cell companies charge at night, while the daytime chatting and messaging is free.

Free calls during the daytime are great.

Just be warned that the calling rates for the off-peak hours or calls to other carriers are sickening!
I can call my family overseas on my landline for 1/3 of the price of calling my neighbor by cell at night.

So from what I have understand this far, GSM do not work but 3G works and I have 3G on my Iphone.

I am looking at Softbank prepaid but I do not understand how much the data cost.
Is it possible to get a White plan without a 2 year contract?

The different pricing depending on what time seems too complicated for me to understand.
