re:kharn

need better pictures, cap'n. Can't see diddly in that one. Dont use an iphone - its rubbish at taking photos. use a camera (a wee point-n-click is fine). Try to get ones of front, back, either side, and a close up of any problem locations (face being a usual one). After dat, we shall advise *throws orky salute and knocks self out*

Yeah, give it to me for my Ravenguard. :D

Get a regular backpack, greenstuff some big scary mouths or something over the vents on the sides.

Hgh Elf update.

Well, lets see. Yesterday I decided to start basing my models since PVA glue takes a while to dry. I got my Sword Masters out of the box they had been sitting in and found....only the first rank was fully painted. I had never got around to finishing the details on the 2nd and 3rd ranks. Aaaarghh.

So progress as of yesterday morning
Basing - Had to do the entire army
Sword Masters - Had to paint the shoes, hair and gemstones and wash the armour with a blue shade.
Lion Chariot - Had to paint the crew
Battle Standard Bearer - Had to add in some details and paint the standard and the shield (both have images formed in the plastic).

After working like a dog last night until my wife came in and switched off the lights forcing me to go to bed, the army as it stands now needs
Basing - Only have to add some flock and its done
Sword Masters - Done
Lion Chariot - Some minor details and a couple of highlights to do
Battle Standard Bearer - I started in on the banner and shield, but there is still a bit to do.

Hopefully I will be finished tonight and I will post a picture of the entire, finished 2250 point army.

@badruck. BRING IT ON! I stand safe in the knowledge that only one of us has watched the entire Jeremie Bonamant Teboul DVD. I have the arcane knowledge of the balding Frenchman on my side - je suis eenveenceeble!

actually, I'd thoroughly recommend the DVD to anyone who wants to get good at painting. It is absolutely encyclopedic, and he talks through and clearly shows exactly what it is he's doing. I learned a ton of simple, useful stuff, and also learned a ton of really frickin complicated, useful stuff, too.

my personal favourite remark of JBTs so far is "ze small bones on ze wasteland base are from dead fieldmice. You can find zem in ze droppings of predatory birds on your travels through ze countryside"

um, yes. They look lovely, but...

DONE!!! :D :D :D :D :D

After 3 weeks of painting every night, I have in my possession a fully painted, based, 2250 point High Elf army.
Tomorrow evening I leave for Beppu where these pointy eared bad boys are going to kick ass and chew gum...and I am all out of gum!

Each unit (except for one block of archers and the bolt throwers) has it's own movement tray. The brown and green (mud and grass) patterns on each model's base corresponds to its position on the movement tray which has the same pattern on it in mud and grass. Cool eh? This helps me rank units up neatly.

Looking back on this madcap project I have learned a few things.
1.) Paint your army months before you even consider joining a tournament
2.) If you flock the sides of the bases, dont expect the models to fit into the movement trays very well.
3.) I can paint faster than I thought I could

Hopefully I should be getting 17 of the 20 paint points available. The points I am NOT getting are 1 for conversions and 1 for scratch built models. There is also 1 for distinctive character models which I am not sure about.

Along with my comp score of 28 (max 40) this gives me a start of 45 from the max of 160. All I need to do now is hammer my opponents and keep them smiling throughout the game.

this is a bit of motivation for me there are no good 30k Kharn paint jobs... if there is I have not seen one... this is the best one I could find... and it looks like crap compared to the Iron hands guy... and well most all the other modles in this group..
