A couple of random things happened today...
First, my triumvirate of Ynnead box arrived, kindly transferred on by my folks back in Scotland. Due to the silliness of GW pricing policy, this meant I got it for 5,600yen, as opposed to the 10,400 it'd cost here. All good so far. This was the first GW stuff I'd bought in a couple of years, after the Harleys got re-released. Things seem to have moved on a great deal since then. Here are some pics of what I got for my 5,600 yen...
1. a frickin huge box. Seriously, is this really necessary? There are 2 regular sized minis and one somewhat-larger-than-average sized mini in here. It's not a bloody titan, ffs.
2. some sprues, a (quite nice, actually) art print, and an assembly guide. Also a plastic box to...I dunno. Bulk out the main box for no discernable reason?
So, all a bit silly, really. On the plus side, the minis are, as expected, flawless. A nice touch is the
very complete assembly instructions, and also the inclusion of rules. Another thing I like is that it appears that (for example) Yvraine can be assembled sans cloak and bustle. Not necessary, but having full sculpted detail on her usually-covered legs means that conversion options are increased. This is a good thing, and as it's unnecessary but nice, GW earn points for this.
Overall, I'm actually pretty happy with buying this, for the price I got it at. GWJ price is still silly, though.
The other thing that happened today was that I discovered the answer to a mystery that had been puzzling me all week. Since about Tuesday my car had been producing a slight but distinct smell of...well, it kinda made me think of that smell you get at the beach when the tide goes really far out and stuff that shouldn't be exposed to the sun has been sitting there baking all day. A bit Dagon-y, basically. Clearly, not a smell that should be emanating from a warm engine. So, the missus took the car to the mechanic to have it looked at.
Turns out it was a dead snake.
I'll just leave that thought with y'all
