I finished most of the heavy lifting on my veterans squad today, leaving just the chapter symbol and a little bit of fussing and cursing at decals for unit markings to finish them up. Then as a treat I'll do a captain and honor guard before moving on to the devastators. And then I'll not only have completed the Marines part of my Advanced Space Crusade collection (with at least one squad of every unit on the roster) but I'll also have a cool 60 points of marines for 40K (65 when I get a rhino from Primarch and a razorback turret from forgeworld) to start dipping the old toes in again.

Sorry, the Rhino you're getting from me is a Razorback. There are options for twin Heavy Bolters or twin Lascannon in the box.

Haha! Ah well, now I'll have a twin assault cannon option too.

@mij: J-retail price with a hearty 20% off from my pals at meruhen, so not quite j-retail ...but by no means the far more reasonable UK prices. They certainly are phenomenal minis, but alas my dear mij, they are not for sale.

I haven't managed to get any hobby time in today, but I did do some painting yesterday. I spent about two hours just painting window frames. Terrain takes soooo long, but hopefully it'll all be worth it in the end.

Got my veterans squad done:



As usual, I got them with Advanced Space Crusade in mind, where they'll be just another tactical squad, with choice of plasma or missile. They'll also work as Sternguard in 40K, although they're not nearly as blinged out as the official models. Captain's next!

(They also kind of make me with I could have white helmets on all my models, as they look much slicker than the black helmets on the basic tacticals. Ah well.)

Well, mark this day in your calendars, gentlemen, because Dave has painted three models just for use in 40K.

(Hmm, the picture didn't turn out so good. Ah well.)

That's a captain in the middle with 40K-appropriate weaponry (my first captain's bolt pistol and chainsword probably just won't cut it for the job a captain has to do) and two honor guard (since it looks like snipers have the potential to be really annoying this edition, what with their ability to, y'know, snipe).
