@Jus - Nice 'Crons.

Speaking of Necrons.
Out of ALL the races in 40K, Necrons are the only ones which can regenerate themselves constantly. Able to heal from lethal damage to fully operational in a short space of time. Whereas every other race in the galaxy will find themselves bleeding and wounded, with their wargear battered and damaged, Necrons will keep coming at you as fresh as the day they were built.

...So why, WHY in the name of all the Gods in the Warp, why are Necrons the only models in the range with sculpted on battle damage on every new mini? Those guardsmen who've been in combat for months on end? Parade ground ready uniforms. Orks which have spent their entire lives in brutal conditions? Skin as smooth as a baby. The nano-tech using machines that can repair any damage? Broken and ready for the scrap heap. :roll:

Sorry, just had to get that off my chest. :lol: :lol: :lol:

That looks amazing! I honestly think he's a really good model - looks like it would take a while to paint though. Hopefully we get to see him in person one day.

Because how can you expect to fight for the Emperor if you can't even keep your uniform tidy? According to my uplifting primer, a Guardsman with badly kept equipment can expect a visit from the Commissar. :lol:

Seriously though, I think it's just something they do with newer models. Also I imagine they're supposed to look like they've been sitting in a tomb for several thousand years.

I imagine that if we get new Guard sculpts within the next couple of decades they'll probably have a much more worn look.

@matt: cheers mate!

@prim: maybe the nice shiny repairs are done to necrons when they get teleported back to the tomb ship after getting destroyed? Reanimation protocols while good only happen on a 5+, I guess there's only so much it can do.

In any case, Skorpek Destroyer!

Very nice work Jus. You are steel.

Great painting Prim. That's a lot of models.

Dave those are cabinet worthy. Well done.

Today I was given a new laptop from my company for working from home. It was an auspicious moment as up until today I've been using my beloved Dynabook Toshiba from Japan which I purchased in 2010. That was the most money I've ever spent on a machine and I have a great love for the memories of that time. It's seen me through dating, marriage, divorce, good times, bad times, various marathons of Total War Napoleon, You Tube creator content, mad videos in Japan and the UK, editing podcasts, shooting the s&£t on NH and endless quiet periods in the teachers room. The love we attach to tech can be quite something when we get a machine that lasts like that. I'm not chucking it. Adding it to the archives along with my Sega Master System/Mega Drive and PS2 console.

Toshiba don't make laptops anymore, at least not in the UK, but if they did they'd still be the best in the world.
Finished the pile of miniatures from 2013!
Painting mainly historical with some fantasy, Tolkien and Sci-Fi.
Currently playing Bladerunner RPG and King's of War.
Japan ex pat vet.

I've been playing Jaws of the Lion rather than painting for the past few days (verdict: fun, and sometimes hard, but maybe about 25% more fiddly than I'm really looking for in a solo game, and also I get unreasonably nervous about actually applying the legacy stuff). But, I've also been squinting at YouTube videos and getting hype for my Death Guard codex to arrive later this week, and (fortunately) I'm really only seriously tempted to buy a couple new models (a Plague Surgeon and a second Blight Hauler). I'm definitely ready to get my Crusade cranking again.
Feel free to call me Dave!

Recently I painted up a few models for a 40K Iron Warriors army.
If you've been over to the Gauntlet section of the forum, you may have seen some of these pictures already.

To lead the force, a Chaos Lord.

This is not a codex legal mini, but I plan to use it as a special character in narrative games. This is the Master of Demolitions.
Image

3 squads of marines to form the bulk of the force.

Havocs as fire support.

Chosen armed with meltas and plasma for tank/heavy infantry hunting.

A Rhino for the Chosen.

A Forgefiend

A Helbrute

Two Obliterators

And a Venomcrawler.

Finally, the army as a whole.

All told, this was about a solid week's worth of work, plus a few hours of prep and a few more for basing.

@Jus- seriously nice work on that blade. Really looks like it's made of some sort of alien obsidian/antimatter/null energy/whatsit.
@Prim- Bless your iron heart. If there are no hazard stripes, it ain't 40K! Nice stuff.
