Dave, that wizard is amazingly good. You are not going to tell me that is all contrast paints, are you?

I am, kind of! The gold bits are retributor gold with an agrax earthshade wash, but everything else is contrast.
Feel free to call me Dave!

@Dave: The wizard is cool, but I really like the coloring on that archer too!

I had a very productive week. I made a big push to paint my stormtroopers - all 50 of them.
I decided to stick to a simple kasrkin-inspired color scheme to keep the painting time down, and I did all of them in one big batch.
Now I just need to do the bases and stick magnets on the bases to work with my movement trays.
Hopefully I can keep up the pace so I can run an infantry-only guard list soon!

Thanks, the archer is my favorite model of the set by far. The "serious painter" part of me doesn't 100% like how she's basically all a single "value," with the gold and yellow/orange sort of blending into each other visually, but probably only me and MiJ would really care about that.

And that's an awesome-looking big old batch of guard! Nice work!

Most of my guardswomen are from Raging Heroes. A bit pricey now, but I picked them all up in their discounted kickstarter a few years ago.
And the sculpts are just lovely. :D

They look awesome!

Scions do work too - I've seen @mattb's come on the board and vaporise things plenty of times.

(Valorous Heart Sisters shrugging off almost any amount of firepower aside...)

And here's the whole crew, just under the line for my May painting target board.

Bahannar, the guy with the hammer, didn't want to step back into the field of focus, but his shoulderpads came out a bit blobby anyway as I had to resort to superglue to actually get him together.

@ToD, Now that you've pretty much mastered Contrast what's next? Wet blending? OSL? There's no stopping your productivity.

Instead of a "What did you do today", here's a "What I should be doing"...
With the new codex coming out soon I thought I'd do a head count of my Ork amy and it was worse than I thought. I better get painting, there's plenty more still unbuilt after all.

I'm definitely in the "a little OSL goes a long way" camp, and Contrast is as close to wet blending as I really want to get. So more of the same - really my core philosophy is "making pretty nice-looking gaming pieces quickly" so there's an upper limit (that I'm getting close to) of how much effort I'm willing to put into a single model.
