@Jye: Thanks! It's been a long journey, but I'm really liking how the infantry came out. Still a bunch of work to do on the rest of the army though.

@Dave: Hey, I like that color scheme! Reminds me a bit of warrior armor in classic WoW.

I ordered a bunch of replacement magnets for the shitty ones I mentioned in my last post. I glued together some test models, and these should work much better with my movement trays.
I'm starting to settle on a list for my next game in two weeks, and it looks like I'll need to paint up my primaris psykers and another hellhound.

I've been listening to the Revolutions podcast quite a bit over the weekend, I'm currently 9 episodes in to the English Civil War. Lacking any ECW minis to paint however, I have instead dug out my American War of Independence project and started on a unit of British infantry.
Glad you're enjoying the podcast! If you stick with it those infantry will become relevant very soon

@Dave - nice job on the Iron Golems. I haven't even assembled mine so you're way ahead!

*Beep boop* Voting for this month's painting contest ends tomorrow. Drop by and check out this round's entries and drop a vote in if you haven't already.

I tried my hand at some scratch built terrain again. This time I went for a rusty Ork shack sort of look. It uses the outer frame of a GW sprue as a frame and so hopefully I can make a few more like it that can be used as ruins or something. I'm making them as flat pieces to make them compact.

A bit of a "painting queue tax" before getting in to the fish elves:

These guys had been sitting half-finished in a box for more than a year - a combination of "I figured out the paint scheme and it suddenly bored me" and "I figured out that they're not nearly as good in WarCry as my trusty old goblins anyway". But now they're done and I can get started on the Idoneth!
Great paint job - what did you use for the skin?

It’s a mix of contrast skin tone and gray, thinned down a whole lot. Then I went over anything in contact with metal bits with very think pink.
Feel free to call me Dave!

Good start! Rusty Ork shacks make very forgiving subject matter with regards to scratch-building. It takes time (sometimes lots) but a few rivets and bolts really make these things look natural. WAVE makes packs of them for Gundam, or for just rivets I'll cut, tiny, tiny tinybits of styrene rod and stick them on with a tiny dab of glue. It is normal to only manage to get half of what you cut on the terrain, the rest get lost/dropped/shoot off at random as you cut them. It works best with you can do plastic to plastic. I'll sometimes sculpt them on with putty too. Oh, spikes glyphs and SKULLZ!
...and now his Head was full of nothing but Inchantments, Quarrels, Battles, Challenges, Wounds, Complaints, Amours, and abundance of Stuff and Impossibilities.....

Thanks for the tips. I'll and incorporate them into my next piece.
With this piece I was a bit too focused on the overall structure and forgot about all the details. Adding more Orky bits to it later shouldn't be too much of a problem too.

True, easy enough to go back and add stuff. You should take a look at the Facebook Nagoyahammer, or...Central Japan Wargamers? page I think. Mustapha's Shanty Town would be very inspiring. He's cobbled together a whole table's worth of corrugated cardboard hovels and walls.

Working on some miko-themed crusaders and my primaris psykers.
It's hard to make a list that actually uses the crusaders, but I'll get good use out of the psykers at least.

Yndrasta got done largely thanks to the Giants game today, and apparently she's *excellent* luck. Nobody tell my wife or I'll have to paint six of her a week.

These guys got knocked over in meetings during the week but I finally ran out of Abandon Black and couldn't do the rims of their bases until today.
