This guy is more of a victim of the Dataslate. The plan was to get @The Other Dave to paint him, and he would have been beautiful. Instead I decided I needed his buff right now, so he got dipped in a bucket of Contrast.

Ha ha! Time and gaming wait for no man. I'm thinking the same thing as you vis a vis a Helbrute, although I'd have thought the twin las was the "optimum" choice what with the death guard's general lack of dependable anti-tank.
Feel free to call me Dave!

I went plasma from chatting with folks online and just a lot of experiences being on the receiving end of 3 damage shooting and wishing I had more of my own. It isn't a good answer to tanks though.

Arguably it should be heavy bolter and missile launcher just to maximise the number of hit rolls 😅

Or course the virtue of having a Lord of Virulence's buff available scales with the number of Blast weapons you have, so here's another one.

Two great games against @Mephiston today!

Well, first game maybe not so great for him as his dice completely failed to turn up. Necrons are supposed to tough it out and Death Guard shooting is not amazing, but if you make zero saves you run out of models pretty fast.

Second was a very close game of Death Guard vs Nids though and it went to five rounds with DG squeaking out a win on points despite being basically wiped out. The big Nids are very scary and have a deep well of tricks but the Plague Marines stood on the things for just long enough. Bugs definitely had the moral victory and possession of the field at the end of the day though.

@Jye - Are you running a plague marine production line? You're really churning those sickly looking fellows out.

I just have even less fear of messing up a Death Guard paintjob than anything else. Sure there are some painters around doing absolutely gorgeous work with this army (including a certain local Dave (or two?)), but a bit of fuzzy primer or the wrong shade of green in the wrong place wouldn't exactly *break theme*.
