NH24 - Side Games (Fri May 3rd) Planning Thread
Friday will mainly be the day for 40K, but for those who don't play the game, but would still like to come, this thread is for you.
Let me just start by saying that any side games aren't intended to detract from 40K, that is the main event. If you play 40K, you should be playing 40K all day. Switching games mid-event is not what the side games are for.
So, if you are planning to come on the Friday and you aren't planning to play 40K, what games would you like to play?

Hmm, not a lot of chatter in this thread.
Either everyone is playing 40K, or they just aren't coming on the Friday?
Anyway, Kojibear suggested that he and I play Warhammer 30,000, and that has got me thinking. Would any of the non-40K types like to play a BIG game of 30K? I would provide everything (except dice and tape measures) so players would just need to turn up on the day. The rules are very similar to 40K 5th-7th editions so if you played between 2005-2015ish they will be very familiar. I could GM the game and guide people through it if need be.
Alternatively, I can provide minis and demo games for:
Bolt Action, Black Powder, Saga, Malifaux or Op-En.
I'd like to have time to prepare, so if anyone is thinking to come along on the Friday, and has a preference for what they want to play, please speak up sooner rather than later.

On the Friday, I anticipate playing 40k. But I'm keen to play other games on the other day.

I don't want to weigh in too much on game preferences yet (for either day), as there is still a chance (maybe 25%) I'll be abroad for at least part of Golden Week. I should know by the end of February. Go ahead and plan stuff before that of course, and if there is any space then I will hopefully join in.

Re: NH24 - Side Games (Fri May 3rd) Planning Thread
I haven't kept up with the actual NagoyaHammer thread that much because I'm not going to be playing 40k, but just to voice my plans, I'm all for Malifaux on the side games day, but am also down to try anything provided models can be... provided.
I can also lend Malifaux models to anyone looking to give it a try who doesn't have their own.
I remember two or three years ago we did that 4-person Malifaux free-for-all over winter break and it seemed reasonably fair for a fun free-for-all. I was wondering if Prim still had whatever rules we used for that.

It looks like I will be around for Nagoyahammer. Four person Malifaux sounds like a good way to spend a day. I would be fine with either Malifaux both days, or else trying out something else skirmishy on one of the days.

Malifaux sounds good to me on the non-40k day. I'm very much focussed on getting my 40k stuff painted, though, so I may not have the biggest crew available for Mali. But I'm keen to play a bunch of games, though

I don't know if it's what you used, but there are two rules sets in Gaining Grounds 3 - Double Rush for 2 teams of 2 players, and All Out Brawl, a free for all for 4-8 players.Grantholomeu wrote: ↑Sun Jan 28, 2024 3:29 pmI remember two or three years ago we did that 4-person Malifaux free-for-all over winter break and it seemed reasonably fair for a fun free-for-all. I think I used the rules from one of the older editions of GG when I set up the 4-way game.
In my post above I mentioned that Kojibear and I were thinking to play 30K, but due to a bit of a terrain crunch I think we may have to change that plan. All of my 30K terrain will be going to the 40K tables.

I have two tables of terrain I was planning to bring - the jungle board and the sci fi outpost board that we have used before. I'll see if I can get another lot of terrain done.Primarch wrote: ↑Tue Mar 26, 2024 9:39 pmI think I used the rules from one of the older editions of GG when I set up the 4-way game.
