Those are fantastic Dave, looking forward to playing against them (though I might not since I'm missing Ichinomiya this month

Re: What did you do today.
howdy all - sorry for being MIA for a couple of months. I've been busy (and for most of August, in Scotland). It's great to see so many pained minis here. Dave - your stuff, in particular those 3 daemons for UW, makes me want to get back to painting as soon as I can. Which I nearly can! While I was in Scotland I picked up a few things for myself - I got some more paint, and a couple of boxes of Malifaux stuff for my Colette and Jakob crews which I'm keen to get to work on. That said, for most of July I was really just pursuing my x-wing project, and it's coming along pretty well. The minis I printed are now all painted, but there's still plenty I need to print and paint to complete the set. Plus, making all the cards (and the upgrades! dear god, the upgrades!
) has taken me a looooooong time. But we're nearly there now. Once the cards are sorted (maybe this week, he said optimistically?) I can get on to painting something. After that, hopefully I can get all the non-huge ships printed and painted by the end of the year.
Anyway, it's good to be back. Here are some tiny space ships just to prove I haven't been sitting on my ass for the past few months
For reference, the TIE defender is an actual official model. It's just there to show the colour matching.

I love that TIE fighter. Black and white checkers, red on yellow flames, the WAAAAAGH is strong in this one! That is the real paint scheme?me_in_japan wrote: ↑Tue Sep 03, 2024 1:54 am

And I actually did a bit of hobby stuff. I have been trying to smooth this mausoleum 3d print Tarkin made for me this summer.
This is it here.
https://miniset.net/sets/drf-mmf112127
The internet had all sorts of clever ways to do it with acetone and something-something ethyl (lacquer remover) but dang that PLA is indestructible! It is really hard to sand and file too.
I think it's the same stuff as whatever Spiderman shoots from his web-slingers.
So I've been experimenting with various putties and fillers and surfacers to try and smooth the bumpiest bits out. I almost ,almost even was going to try and get some liquid Greenstuff, but decided against it. Heard about and found this stuff called literally "Perfect Plastic Putty" and it really is a great filler. I think I'll end up rattle-can-zenithal-ing it back to white and try to color it via wash with minimal drybrush. It's for Frostgrave, so it will end up with a lot of snow on it, so that will help too.

Re: What did you do today.
Very impressive job though MiJ so I'd say your efforts paid off!
On the more quick and dirty side...

...or at least dirty. These guys took ages to paint even after I skipped their infamous trim. They ended up different colours because my pot of Blood Angels Red was in bad shape and Baal Red seemed like the best alternative (though too flat for this job for sure). I think the universe is trying to tell me to stay Loyalist!

I am so out of the loop Star Wars wise. It's like trying to keep up with 70 years of Marvel characters at this point.me_in_japan wrote: ↑Tue Sep 03, 2024 2:56 pmYes it is! And it was a sunovabitch to paint!Jye Nicolson wrote: ↑Tue Sep 03, 2024 9:08 amThat's Sabine's TIE!
