Re: O-Bomb 2010
this is a heated debate for you guys for me it is now at the end of the day it is Army men... are some peoples toys better than others and do some guys get better toys than others yes and no... I am very much in favor of FW but there should be a bit of Comp... I know "the C word" but Mike is right about the potential of abuse I know I was planing on taking 2 Plague hulks and scratch building a few Blight Drones for this event and win it even with a 0 in the first round... could there be a bit of Comp for the next Tournament.. that would be very helpful to allow FW and still keep it a bit more fair...

@*#%& M_i_J
Continuing on this non argument...
I have just conducted a peer-reviewed study, empirical study on the topic and came up with some (un) surprising results. Imagining that I was a tournament player that was going to play Space puppies and Nurgle in a tourney I thought I would do a little research on my opponents.
In five minutes I easily found info. on Nigel Stormcaller in Japanese and English, for free, through GW's official sites. After Stu' came down to my place and kicked my ass with his Space puppies I immediately did a quick check of their rules even as the tears of shame dried on my face
The same can not be said for Blight drones and other FW stuff. I found a lot of rumours and some out-right incorrect rules but nothing concrete.
A lot of your points seem to centre on the fact that playing against FW is the same as playing against any unknown GW model. I think that is a bit of a fallacy. Info. on GW models is freely, easily and legally available. Info on FW is not. If you want to do a bit of prep work for a tourney you can easily access rules for all codices. If you suspect there will be Deathstorm drop-pods dropping out of the skies or Chinorks zooming all over the place at some stage then you are out of luck.
What say you savage?
P.S. To all observers: Although this may seem like an argument it is in fact a reasoned discussion. I have no desire to virtually glass M_i_J in his virtual face

Re: O-Bomb 2010
Actually, I believe Badruck, in his , sans capitals/punctuation post has the best solution. How about including comp scores to the tourney Oh mighty primarch?

Re: O-Bomb 2010
1.) There has NOT been a Tournament so far this year.Admiral-Badruck wrote:this is a heated debate for you guys for me it is now at the end of the day it is Army men... are some peoples toys better than others and do some guys get better toys than others yes and no... 2.) There will be a comp score at O-Bomb. Please wait for the rules to go up.

Re: O-Bomb 2010
With regards to the Forge World non-debate thing,
I have never legally found a free source for regular rules in English. The rules can be downloaded in Japanese for free though. If GW has started providing free english rules then that'll save me from buying new dex's. Not everyone buys every armybook. I know I dont.
The Deathstorm is a nasty nasty piece of work admittedly, but as Dave says, nearly all the other FW models are overcosted.
If someone went to the effort of buying a ridiculously priced resin model (resin is actually pretty cheap to make), and bought a book costing about 10000 yen, they would probably like to use it. Warhammer is not a balanced game, sad but true. Some armies have some hideously broken rules or units. Seer-bikes for Eldar are supposed to be awesome and I'm sure someone told me they plan on building some....
At the end of the day, if people want to use FW models at the event, then they can. However they must bring a copy of their rules and being able to explain clearly what they do in Japanese/English should be a requirement for playing in ANY multi-national event like this.
