Badruck is just sad because he's stuck with all the old ugly models whilst all the cool kids have the new gorgeous figures. :P
this is a half truth... I am glad I do not have to paint all the new models that would have been a real bytch.
I'm looking forward to painting 1 or 2 of each. The whole army less so. :D Badruck does make a good point here.

I have a devious masterplan involving an airbrush, some drybrushing, and some dip.

While it sometimes seems a chore, I love the feeling of getting a fully painted army down on the table. Not everyone one does and that's cool too.

@The Madmiral: You may have a fully painted army but some of those models are plain old terrible. Not even DL's nice paint jobs can save them from that. And won't you get tired of people saying "Hey, aren't those DL's Dark Eldar?" all the time? :D :D :D

Sent some money home last week to buy some Dark Eldar.
Maelstrom's sale ends tonight.
Ask when next sale will be.
Told "End of January probably."
Money hasnt arrived home yet.

I'm a sad Primarch.  No DE for me until next year.
Oh well, more time to work on other projects.
Speaking of which, there is a request going up in the trading section.

@Prim: :( Sorry to hear about your bad luck (with the DE order not with the net troll who posted before this). I couldn't wait so I ordered mine a few days back plus a few other FOW goodies.

Anyways...
I have just put together some of the new Wyches and I have to say that, like the Madmiral, they are much better in real life ;) . They are just so cool and dynamic. I mean, they look cool in all the pix but when you have a squad all made up they really look ace. And the best thing is, they are troops. This bodes so well for all other releases. No more boring, near identical units anymore.

Actually I think the Wyches are the culmination that started a while back, with some of the WFB core units. It is very pleasing to see, especially for those with limited sculpting skills/patience, but who still want a great looking army.

Love-a-thon over (for now) :D

Or is it?

The datafiles for Dark Eldar are available on Army Builder now and have been consumed a fair chunk of my free time ever since. There are just so many cool choices and only so many points. It's probably just as well that they are releasing DE in two waves. People's heads would explode with all the decisions to be made over what to include and what to leave out.

Some news regarding the next wave of Dark Eldar.
IIRC more DE (Talos & Cronos plastic kit, plastic Venom, plastic Voidraven & other aircraft kit, plastic Scourges, plus quite a few metal kits )are due out before GK, so later than that (Edit: Meaning after March, so I assume April).

So lets take a look at that 2nd wave Dark Eldar list again:
-Talos/Cronos plastic kit
-Venom plastic kit
-Voidraven/Razorwing plastic kit
-Scourges plastic kit

With Jes saying all of the Dark Eldar range minus a few special characters would be out by June, that would leave the following as metal kits:

-Grotesques
-Wracks
-Haemonculi
-Assorted Characters

Schedule wise, if this pans out, it would mean a shoehorn slot pushing back Grey Knights to perhaps the May timeframe as January-March are already known.
I'm looking forward to an air force and those scourges. The art looks wicked sweet, so I hope that they can do the models justice. Go Jes GO!

only stuff im waiting for are scourges (check) venom (check) and court of the archon sslyth (hum). After that, im calling it a day on the dark eldar. No muncs or gloopy mutants for me, chaps. oh, and i quite fancy some special chars, but I can wait for them.

*edit* im also becoming increasingly aware that cronos are pretty much central to a lot of dark eldar tactics. the question is: can i bring myself to buy a model for tactical reasons?

If it looks as cool as the art in the book, can you bring yourself not to?
