There's rumors that the Immolator and/or whatsit, organ rocket launcher thing, will lean in more heavily to the Deimos angle. They've definitely shown and mentioned specifically a lot more bits than you can see on this model.
I'm hoping that they do, but I'm surprised that they would go for an upgrade for the standard model AND a more heavily modified model for the Immolator. An all-or-nothing approach would seem better in terms of sales vs. development costs.

Still, if they do release an unadorned Deimos model, I'll be all over it. Sadly the Sisters are kind of my last hope for it, as it seems GW are shifting further and further from the classic marines in favour of all Primaris.

Well, on the one hand the codex update gave a big boost to, for example, drop pods, which primaris can't ride in, so classic marines still have a place on the tabletop. But I don't think that "as of the 8th edition launch two years ago, GW will never produce another non-primaris marine model for 40K ever again" is exactly a controversial statement.

Looks like GW are releasing a new mini of Jain Zar in plastic.

Hard to find anything to dislike about that! (Although has she always had a navel sculpted on her belly armor? That's edging into "nipples on batman armor" territory...)

So they revealed the next box set. Since I'm not an Eldar player I might be entirely wrong but the selection of units seems to be rather questionable. Especially since this is going to be the only way to get the new models for a while, only having 5 of each unit with the heroes seems a bit unfortunate. But GW has been releasing these box sets with a mix of new and old so there's nothing new there I suppose. It's just their way of trying to get people to spend way more than they actually intend to.

They also announced the first campaign book. My first thoughts were that it's yet another book that people are going to have to carry around and keep track of which reminded me of complaints from 7th edition. But I guess it's hard to update physical rules while making money in any other way. Personally my Alpha Legion uses rules and datasheets from 3 different books already so I'm not looking forward to that number growing.

Also, the Vigilus Campaign was probably the start of this trend in 8th so I'm expecting that it'll be similar with more books covering all the factions. According to rumours the next campaign box is Black Legion vs Black Templars, followed by Blood Angels vs Tyranids apparently.

Hmmn. I am an eldar player (very much so) but I honestly don't feel inspired to buy this box. Mostly because I already have 10 banshees and 10 incubi. And Jain Zar. Story/rules-wise, it seems a bit pricey to buy the box/hardback rulebook just for campaign fluff, so I may well just ask our russian comrades to help out with that side of things.

Overall, I think the minis are great, but I have no desire to invalidate the minis I already have, thanks (as I'll never need 2 of any of the units in the box).

So, a pass from me, but then I suspect I'm not the target audience for this.

Wow. And then Corona happened. Just....crickets, all the way through to 2023...

Yeah, all the battle boxes so far have very much been starter box type deals - this one is actually a lot more new-model heavy, as they usually just get a new command model per side, one of which is almost invariably a Primaris Lieutenant. :D

If Vigilus was any indication, Phoenix Rising should have a lot of really good content in it at least. I'm... I'll go with intrigued by what I know of the fluff, as apparently it's focused on the Indomidus Crusade and the events around it, which is a few hundred years *before* the events in Vigilus. I guess it means they're taking the "Dark Imperium" setting as a whole swath of time to set games in rather than saying "this is the year and it'll tick forward from now on," which is fine I guess. (It also explains Blood Angels vs Tyranids.) They've certainly been talking up the potential breadth of settings and games in just the IC era on the official podcast so it makes sense.

In other news there are some leaked images from a store in China of the contents of the Sisters of Battle box set that GW mentioned a while back.

If someone were getting started on an Eldar/Dark Eldar army that boxed set might be a good first step. There is bound to be a formation that lets you use the models for 40K straight from the box. Of course, if you already have a complete collection of all things Space-Elfy, the contents aren't so appealing I guess.
The Sisters boxed set is another good starting point. You'll have to wait until the minis go on sale individually to build your collection (or buy multiple boxes) as the old metal minis are on 'last chance to buy.'
