Mate, I don't think that is what people were disagreeing with. Both Prim and Pike said thats fine if you want to have a generic army. M_I_J didn't like the idea much but he always gets a bit funny when it's his time of the month. What people dismissed as dribble was the idea of mixing and matching Codex specific units as you see fit. I don't think that's what you were actually trying to say but thats how it came across, especially the way you typed it.

People misunderstood your argument.

Honestly, no-one cares what colour you paint your models or which rules you use so long as the models are WYSIWYG (within reason, proxying the occasional figure here and there is fine generally speaking) and you make it very clear which rule set you are using.

Buying one (or more) of everything for every chapter is a personal choice and isnt required by any means. For me, having different models for Space Wolves and Blood Angels is the same as having different models for Grots and Hive Tyrants. Yes, this means I have lots of marines, most of them unpainted/semi painted, but that is what makes me happy.

If you just want to have one marine army and change the rules when you feel like it, then do it. Just remember that some people on this site are more interested in things looking aesthetically pleasing, others are into the fluff and others like yourself just want to play 24/7.

I am sure M_i_J and others will play you no matter what colour your models are, whether they have fur or wings modelled onto them or what you want to call them.

actually, I dont have a problem at all if Badruck (or Prim or anyone else for that matter) wants to look through all the marine codexes and build an army out of the common components. Mass proxying I disagree with for the reasons Spev so wisely stated, but having a group of miniatures that actually can be legitimately used in a variety of armies is fine and dandy so far as I'm concerned. Tac marines with bolters, Drop pods, Land Raiders (basic ones), Rhinos etc are all good, especially if theyre either unpainted or done as a custom chapter. If said chapter also contains a squad of thunderwolves (which happen to bear a striking resemblance to juggers) then that is fine. If the chapter also happens to contain slightly bonkers assault troopers, who suffer from, let us say, the Blue Rage (their primarch was beaten by a smurf as a child), then that is also fine. However, if both thunder wolves and Blue Rage afflicted units turn up in the same army list, then I have a problem with it.

Personally, I would prefer it if Badruck made up some kind of name, colour scheme and fluff to fit this hypothetical chapter, as at least then I'll be better able to convince myself he's not just doing it for reasons of Cheeze...

First question Is it cheesy to use Flyers in games of planet strike? I reckon no but... hell I think of Planet strike as Apoc.light ... I think it is very fun to play with a flyers...

Second question:
It looks like there will be more flying stuff moving in to 5th ed... It is my guess that 6th ed will bring them in and that the 6th ed rules will be a complete overhaul to the current edition much like 7th ed FB was flipped on its head by 8th ...I reckon 6th ed will do the same for 40k as 8th ed did to FB... And It is my guess that if you do not have a flyer you will be getting owned... What do you guys think? Make a case for it one way or the other...
